One of my boring pre 1950's maildays. No need to guess.

OK Vlad may like this. The first Celts card EVER! A 1933 goudey sports kings card! This is just after the Celts became the Boston Celtics. Eddie Burke was a star of the time and the games playground excitement machine. But when they go for this

45 1933 Goudey Sport Kings #3 Nat Holman PSA 8 NM-MT $24,926.25US

I'm happy to have an example of this sp from the set. The SGC holder is sweet too!

Here's a link for those who want more to a set that sold for $360,000US. Who says Jordan and Bron rule the high end world of cards!

Now here is one of the coolest cards in my set now. Topps FIRST basketball card! A 1948 topps magic card also known as the hocus focus set. You got a blank card with a hint to the player, actor, landmark on the back. You licked or wet the card and left it in sunshine or light. The photo would then appear! Nearly all are underexposed and it seems that its impossible to overexpose them. They are tiny too! This is the Ed Macualey one Ive been after for 15 years! I finally got it in a lot of them. Easy Ed a gret Celt of the past and this predates his RC by 9 years! They are very very hard to track down and the basketball and baseball go a for a bit. Got lucky on this lot and will flip the others and do quite well me thinks.

All up its been a good week as I sold some 1985 prism stickers for over $400US. For only a few and kept the Birds and DrJ. Pretty happy with the sale of Magic for $125US, Jabbar/Malone for $110US etc. :D

Ahh what a vintage oddball week and its only Tuesday :D

Anyway enough babbling. I'm just aware some of my maildays need explaining as they are a bit off the beaten path.

Hey mate,I love them.To EXy for me though  IT's funny because my wife found some of those & heaps of other unreal stuff in a online card shop.Tracy was trying to look up a 87 donruss Baseball JOE CARTER for me.I think it's basicly worthless

hey chad thats awesome mate, you are right those cards are extremely small!

awesome pickup on the Eddie Burke! hate to point it out, but its almost in better condition than the infamous BGS Bird auto  good thing BVG didnt grade that one! hehe

Great stuff Chad
Thanks for the background info, which helps to educate all of us non-vintage collectors!

LOL told ya it was tiny! The Burke has good eye appeal thats what i was after. Most have scuffs or bits missing etc but no crease etc. Although they are quite big. Alot bigger than 48 bowman so they tend to have more creases from storage in the last 82 years.

The Burke is a high number one meaning its one of the more rare ones in the set.

Thanks for the comments locky. Not sure what Aussie2al is getting at but thanks :P

Shit Chad, thats awesome. That Goudey card is hardcore, its is such a famous set.

The Topps set I never heard of before an Easy Ed card is cool as.

Very nice Chad. Thanks also for the explanation, as I'd guess that over 90% of members on this site would have little or no knowledge of vintage or oddball issues. Cheers for the pics and another lesson.

Thanks guys and yes I've bought off kityoung cards in the last month. Great service and fast shipping via global priority. Most of my cards now come from stores, shows, auction houses and other collectors. eBay doesn't attract the good vintage stuff. Thanks for the heads up though. There are two other Celts in the set but hard to get. I'm going to end up paying for those

Your right they cost but they will hold value for pretty much ever. Less risk and more chance of appreciation with them too.

Thanks Clarkey I thought its better than just pics and a title.

What a lucky guy your hubby is

Im not aware of that set but is there any basketball in it or do you have anymore info on it?? Old Australian sets are not well know in the hobby and i have friends in the US curious about it.

Ahh thanks Tracy...deeeeeerrrrrrr I should have known that! LOL

Of course there was't any ball back then.

I love the look of old baseball cards. The amount of facial hair alone on most is hilarious.
