i think they are quite good. can you imagine the same designs with the same players as before. i mean who wants to collect another jordan big man on court in bulls uniform. or a pmg of jordan in bulls. i think it will be great seeing an autographics of mj and the pmg in nth carolina looks good.
I agree, There will be autographics of Jordan and Lebron, that is enough to get these selling. Will be very interesting to see the checklists of those inserts.
You'd have to think the boxes would be up around the $400 mark? Too much for me
Panini have an exclusive 5-year deal with the NBA....the deal commenced in 09/10. The 2014/15 season would be the first season where the other brands could possibly make a comeback....assuming they can get a deal with the NBA.

Sorry....you are correct.....must have been getting confused with the AFL TV rights!!
In late January 2009, Panini acquired a four-year licensing agreement to become the exclusive worldwide producer of NBA trading cards and stickers. The contract begins with the tipoff of the 2009-10 regular season and extends through the completion of the 2012-13 campaign.
I think from memory they were able to produce licenced cards up until the start of the season....so they rushed out a heap of product prior. (Again, could be wrong!)

Totally agree UD's college sets are starting to get tired and I've decided I won't buy Panini as it looks too cheap and too mass produced. I think Upper Deck getting it's Nba license back is the only thing that will save basketball cards!!
As to fleer retro.... has anyone noticed that most of the inserts are skybox inserts and not fleer? How then can it be fleer? It's just upper deck clearing house and trying to cash in on what was successful for other companies back in the 1990's - aside from MJ AU's and GU's, all of the big priced MJ inserts are from topps, skybox and Fleer.
Panini's license came into effect Oct 1, 2009. Upper Deck squeezed out Upper Deck, First Edition, Exquisite, SP GU and SP Sig before that date. Topps put out Topps (with Chrome as a product within a product) and bowman 48. Since that date, Upper deck has only had collegiate stuff while topps has done nothing basketballl wise.
If it is done properly it may, but it must be a true college uniform set and not include Lebron James. Funny how Upper Suck can include him (suppose a little thing about being on the payroll helps) but do not include players like T-Mac, KG & JO.

Actually, 1996 was only a partial buy out - Fleer took the metal license from skybox. The complete buyout happened in 2000 - after the skybox inserts re-released in this product were released.
