Old Card Ads from Beckett - UD, Fleer etc

Was flicking through some old becketts, came across some old ads for new releases at the time, interesting to see how they were marketed etc

Also had some Hot Lists etc in there, interesting to see how Beckett have cut down or cut out a lot of this stuff, maybe because there's SO many sets and parallels for them to coordinate and try to list, maybe it's to save the effort and just remain impartial, save the effort. It would be interesting I think, would be good to see come back in

Nice work scanning those up mate. That 94-95 Fleer was the first box of cards i ever bought i think i still have the boxes sitting in a drawer

Interesting looking over the Hot Lists, so many promising careers, some that didn't quite pan out :/

How times have changed ----> 97-98 UD Game Jerseys 1:2500 packs or 1 every 70 boxes..............slightly easier to get these days...........

I had forgotten what some of the actual packets looked like. Looking back at them, thanks to this post, I remember now opening some back in the day. Although some still didn't jog my memory, I know I bought them (well tbh dad did ) but I just can't picture opening them.

Haha that's cool.... thanks for scanning those up mate! 94-95 Ultra were one of my fav sets to open back in the day...... great stuff!!

I recall going for that all-rookie team out of them back then & I was deciding over 2 packs to buy from the box a guy had at the local markets..... I ummed & ahhed & chose one pack & got jack-squat..... then a few mins later some kid bought the pack I decided against & pulled the penny all-rookie team....... I was like OMG.......... why, why, WHY!?!?

omg wow lol! i clean out my stuff every few months and throw things away, can't keep anything for that long

jack-squat! plenty of that in pack busting hey!

i remember i was like 14 or 15, spent heaps of my earnings from a paper run i was doing at the time on 94-95 skybox packs, bought like 20 packs, they might have been $2 or $3 a pack, from a newsagent, busted em all open, can't remember what I got so it must have been.....jack ****!

Just looked over a bunch of old Beckett's from 95-2005 and its funny to see some of the card prices especially seeing as now some of the ones that were listed in the mid 100's now sell for under $5 on the bay
On the other hand some of MJ's Inserts from the 90's are selling for way more than BV from any time period previously.

Haha I loved those as well...... pretty crappy to get nothing out of 20 packs though.... woulda been disheartened for sure.... I remember sharing a box of those with my bro for xmas one year & I pulled a Penny Center Stage (who he collected at the time) & he didn't get much at all..... he was PO'ed....

Now those were the days of real collecting!!! Not like today were you pay stupid money just to say you got an auto of Lebron etc.
