This is my official NBA 50 Greatest Players of All-Time GAME USED thread, to keep track of what I have and what I need, and to share it with you guys, so please feel free to show your Game Used 50 Greats as well. I hope to meet other collectors chasing the same set, share ideas and all that good stuff.... If you're currently not doing this set, will you join me?

GU = Game Used (jerseys, swatches, patches, tags, primes, logomans...)​

I have provided a list of all 50 players below. All BOLD names are my haves, so I need all the rest. I also provided a link to a YouTube video that shows the actual ceremony, so you're able to actually see all the players and put faces to the names. Only 3 players were not present at the ceremony: Pete Maravich who passed away in 1988, Jerry West was getting a surgery done, and Shaq was hurt and couldn't be there, but i'm pretty sure you all know what Shaq looks like.

I will post scans from time to time as time permits, so please check back. I will post them below the name list at the bottom of this post.

Thanks! They could only pick 50 players... Did they skip a few very great players? Sure, but it's a very hard task trying to pick only 50 out of the many players that are out there.

oh I dont disagree with the players they chose at the time. It was 1996 after all - I remember buying a Hoops magazine special of it when it got released. Pretty sure I still have the booklet that came with it somewhere - if I find it would you be interested in a trade for it? Im just saying now you can add Kobe, Iverson, Nash, Duncan etc etc to the list. That obviously means someone has to come off.

No, I totally understand. I can't wait for year 2046 where they will announce the next 50 Greatest. Hopefully i'll be around for that...

They actually "unofficially" named the next 10 Greatest players in 2007 - 10 years later. But it wasn't anything like the one in 1997. Here's a link that I think you might find interesting TNT's Next 10 Greatest NBA Players - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia this is the unofficial list of the next 10 players. Of course the real one, if they ever do it again, would be in 2046 where they would announce the next 50? That would be AWESOME!!! I gotta find a way to spend that social security check HAHAHAHAHA

No. There are a few that don't, but Panini is looking good so far... They came out with the first ever George Mikan GU so I have faith in them, that they will hopefully come out with the other old timers. Oh yeah and they also did Wes Unseld for the very first time. There are probably more that they did that I can't think of right now.

I recently found out that Bob Cousy had a couple of GU cards, so I searched and searched and finally got a hold of one. UD made them back in 1999-2001 and I never even knew!

Edited: I actually looked at the list and off the top of my head i'm pretty sure only 9 players don't yet have GU and that's probably 100% right, because I know the others definetly have GU out there. I never counted but I would have thought more players didn't have GU so better than I expected.

haha, that would be awesome if they did it again in 2046. I wonder how many of the players we would consider to make the cut really will by then? Who knows what the next generation will bring.

What we think today are great players might not even make the cut next time around... I wonder if the future holds many more Jordans, Kobes, Lebrons......

I can't wait!!!
