Official 2014-15 NBA Regular Season Thread

Clippers vs Nuggest in the 4th they have 5 techs and 2 flagrants in the 4th Quarter alone so far and about 7 minutes to go crazy game!.

Spurs vs Blazers 3OT! and back to back triple OT's for the spurs. Blazers take it 129-119 Lilliard with 43 ! LMA with 36-16boards and old man Duncan with 32-10, Danny Green stepped up with 27points 10 boards whilst Parker and Kawhi sat out

True he was leaving but only getting what they got is what should get Danny fired, their was a lot of other offers on the table the last couple of years and for being stupid it has cost him big, for rondo I'd atleast want a top 10 pick or a promising talent, they could of at the minimum fleeced Dallas of way more picks, hell I would have asked for atleast 3 first rounders minimum

i agree i think houston,Lakers and a few others would have paid more but the picks they would be giving up would most likely be very bad and not lottery picks. As for what Celtics have going forward are a shit ton of futures which is not a bad thing, they implode now to get a great look at this coming years draft which im sure they will now be even better (seeded) come end of the season.
Let Smart/Bradley/Turner run your offense and even get rid of Green if possible. TANK TANK TANK and look towards the future now rather than later.

I honestly think no one would have given away a lottery pick for Rondo without a clause that he would be resigning which from my understanding that was not possible. He's basically on loan and if he enjoys it in Dallas they will pay him ofc with the team they now have.

Korver shoots 54% from the 3point line and is 2nd in the league, dudes a freak (my friends a NBA trainer) and says hes the best shooter he has ever seen (my mate now is an assistant with the Bighorn Reno's D League team).

As for the Mavs they found their niche at the end of the game, Rondo and Monta are going to ruin most teams tbh.
Wait until theire ballin on all cylinders. SCARY.

Watched most of the rockets game and can say they def need more bigs, they were getting open layups (Hawks) in that game.

What's happened to Faried? He showed so much for team USA and has been a let down imo.... @nichj99 follows his game more than me and might have also noticed.

I think Faried can some this up pretty well himself:

That said, he has been injured, missing games with various foot and back injuries which have also hampered his performance.

Having watched more than a few Denver games this season, he's not getting the ball in the low post like he was last season after the all star break when he averaged 20pts / 12 rbs until seasons end. He doesn't fit into Brian Shaw's offense, and as a result the only touches he gets are looks he creates himself from offensive rebounds or on the pick and roll. Keep in mind that Mozgov, then Hickson are the teams 1 & 2 options in the pick and roll now that both are healthy, so Faried now becomes the third option in this scenario. He's played 378 minutes along side Mozgov already and another 57 with Hickson. Thats 435/589 minutes (about 73%) logged where the "other" big man gets preference.

His FG% is a career low 49% (down from 54% last season), but he's also shooting the ball less. The nuggets are getting more shot attempts from the SG position than last season, so with a bigger focus on Mozgov and more long range shooting his attempts per game have dwindled. Shaw has criticized him for not being able to bring the same energy to the glass as last season, but there's only so many minutes that can be handed out and lets face it - the nuggs are deep at every position (without any all star talent). One game he'll play 32 minutes, then back it up by only playing 18. How does any player get into a game in a broken up 18 minute playing time scenario? Come in, play 4 minutes, come back out - its not easy. In fact, it's the lowest amount on minutes per game he's logging since his rookie year.

Let's analyze the comment about not getting used in the post where he proved last year to be so effective, shooting 69% on these shots.

2013-14 Shot Chart / Heat Map

Compare that to the 2014-15 Shot Chart / Heat Map.
He's still shooting 65% on these shots, which is efficient by any means, but no post game. No getting the ball on the low block.

I like Brian Shaw, I really do - and it's easy to point the finger at him I know this. However, I feel that he isn't utilizing Faried to his strengths - and was very reluctant to do it last year too. He only turned to him after Hickson went out, Mozgov was out, Lawson was out, JaVale McGee was out and Gallinari was out. Now all these guys are back and they are getting first pickings (except for JaVale who's just eating into everyone minutes - they have to come from somewhere!). Darrel Aurthur is also chewing into the Manimals minutes as he's able to stretch the floor better than Faried can, a requirement in the system Shaw has implemented.

The Manimal wants to be in Denver, evident of the contract he just signed - but I can't help think that maybe its time to move on where he can do his thing, or the Denver front office needs to break out of NBA Purgatory and either bottom out or package these roll players + draft picks to bring in some all star talent and free up the logjam at each position.

@ozballer23 does this answer your question at all?

Thanks! I'm a bit of a stat / analytics nerd like that haha.

And the raps new logo is only an alternate one - drake apparently designed it. I don't like it at all, its essentially the nets logo with a claw in it.

Massive trade for the Mavs picking up Rondo, and realistically, they gave off Brandan Wright and that's it. Crowder has disappeared on the bench and Nelson has been under-performing as a starter with Harris/JJ coming off the bench out-doing him. The Draft Picks are possibly protected (first rounder protected 1-3 and 15-30), and no one cares about the second rounder.

Wright will be missed, but I think the Mavs are looking at signing Jermaine O'Neal if he decides to come back to the league. - Also, not sure on if there's anything to make of it, but read some whispers that Mavs COULD be interested in Bucks' John Henson? Not making anything of it yet, as I can't find anything but tweets, and they're most likely fan-based tweets.

Rockets also picking up Corey Brewer is interesting, not really a move they had to make, if anything another big would have helped them more, but a trio of Harden, Ariza and Brewer could be a defensive nightmare for oppositions should they ever want to run it. Certainly looks like the Wolves are done (again) this season, offloading players.

Disagree. I think the rockets did have to make that trade. Harden & Ariza had been playing huge minutes so far this season - and that's only going to catch up to them as the season progressed. This should help them long term by adding depth.

Wow. That sucks. He played his best game back yesterday too. However, one of my best mates did that, had surgery and was back playing within 3 weeks. So at least it's not super serious!

Ummm yeah lol

I saw that the Rockets also picked up Shved from the Sixers, thats a good pick up for them to help with their PG issues (they are def not deep).

Westbrook is seriously playing like a demon without KD tonight, AD also ruining the big men, Adams is playing amazing other than getting ruined on pick and rolls from Jrue & AD.

My lakers are basically making me want to cry and cuddle up in a ball and wake up when its all said and done. Kobe's now making seriously contested balls that he does not need to jack, Swaggy P is getting it in also which is always good to see.
