Exactly! This is the main reason why Harden is nearly irreplaceable at OKC! He could do his damage with limited time with the ball! You don't have a choice with Durant and Westbrook on your team!

Big move on both counts! I think OKC win it though! K Martin can score in absolute bucket loads, being a role player now should help wit his fitness.injuries too. And Lamb will be an absolute gun in years to come! Helps with Luxury tax too, sort of what Harden deserves for wanting too much cash!

ANd this is where I think It'll help K MArtin in OKC.... He won't have to play many minutes, helping his fitness/injury issues, he can score in buckets quickly too, creates his own shot and can nail the wide open 3 too and basically won't have to be the scoring leader in OKC, so will fill Harden's void fine..Injury free that is.... Harden will struggle to be the go to guy in Rockets or he takes it on and they still suck balls!... With Lamb developing and the salary clear out, it puts OKC in a better position for years to come aswell.... Best front Office in the league since they moved to OKC, by far.....

People keep saying OKC win here but I think it is very even... Perhaps even HOU won I think, here's why:

OKC: Martin can score, lamb should develop into a good player, they traded Aldrich, traded harden before team was disrupted. But... If Martin is 6th man, can he play this role? Not all players can... If he starts, do they have enough bench options? Plus harden created a lot of offence for OKC when he is on the floor, he was more of a PG than Westbrook! However, with the draft picks OKC will be strong for the next ten years.

HOU: have a decent young side now all the way through. If Lin, Parsons, Patterson, White, Jones, Asik can develop then Houston will be strong for the next 10 years. Harden is more of a team player than Martin and I think this trade gives the young kids in Houston a better chance to develop.

IMO basketball is all about game winners and game changers. Most guys can 'accumulate' and get you the numbers but it is the special ones that win you games and titles. Harden was one of the specials ones and can change a game in a heartbeat like mj, Kobe, ginobili etc. I certainly think Houston won out but an interesting point a few posts earlier if he can do that as a starter.

At the end of the day OKC definitely won.

They would have lost Harden for nothing at the end of the season anyway. there would have been plenty of teams ready to offer him max money.

Unfortunately it's a shame he did'nt stay for less $$$.

OKC will still be tough but I don't think they got better out of the trade for right now. But it was a smart move.

What everyone is forgetting is how close a bond KD and Westbrook had with Harden. Those three LOVED playing with each other and are really close. How will KD and Westbrook adjust with this trade being so close to the season. Going to have a massive affect in their locker room, it's just going to be a huge shock.

As i always say if someone offered you an extra 20-40% on top of your wage to do the same thing at a different place what would your answer be?? They only get 10 good years if they are lucky so its always going to happen!!

But it wasn't an extra 20-40%, it was $4.5mil on top of $55mil...

I don't think it was just the money, he probably wants a start now too which wasn't guaranteed in OKC

agreed, Martin is gonna need the ball more the Harden did which will have to come out of Durant or Westbrooks shots. OKC made out the good tho, i reckon HO got a really good player but gave up far to much

have to agree, think there would be alot more to it than just money cos it really doesnt make sense. Better team in OKC for only $4.5 million a year to add to the NBA wages??? Had to be a disagreement somewhere or something that hasnt come out. Harden has been a gun coming off the bench and has always made the most of it and as its been said alot of players just couldnt do it. I take my hats off to player with all the ability to come off the bench and do whats needed for the team.

It might not have just been about the figure. Look at Jeremy Lin. He got a $35 mil deal but it is $5m, $5m, $25m.
Maybe Hardens offer was end heavy as well?

I think you are closer to the fact. I don't think it was just about the $$$, but, in saying that, Harden made a huge name for himself last year. If he didn't demand to be seen as a franchise player now, then the hype would die and he woul probably never get the chance at a $50m + deal again.

Wow..... this is such a shame. Can't really blame OKC for doing it though and not sure where Hardens decision making process was at, but if it was just about the extra money then that is $hit!

Gonna really miss watching him play @ OKC with the other boys, but on the other hand interested to see how he can go as a starter.

We got some nice pickups out of this deal with the 2 first-rounders (do they have any protection and who are they from?) and Lamb, but not overly keen on Martin, he's an awful defender and is as one-dimensional as they come.

Toronto is lottery-protected. The other one is from the Lakers I think.
