Obstruction

Every game has a handful or more plays where a player runs behind another team mate and then has to submit to a 'voluntary tackle' or be penalised for obstruction. It's such an eyesore.

It must be a "Twighlight Zone" moment for anyone not totally familiar with the game. They know they've just seen something that wasn't right but they're not quite sure what it was, lol. They may even put it down to a big night on the drink.

I don't know how they fix it but they should try to do something. It looks bad.

Like so many rules in this great game, the officials made a rod for their own back by overly complex interpretations.

This creates issues with consistency. In a high speed collision sport like league, it can be tough to get the calls right all the time. By applying common sense, it can alleviate this.

It's the nrls fault, they have changed so rules since inception,

Yep.

The one last night with Havili which denied To'o a try was also a joke for different reasons. That incident not only denied To'o a try but also then indirectly lead to Souths' 1st try. Thankfully that game had little meaning other than Penrith trying to secure a top 4 spot but that type of incident in a finals match could change the outcome of the season.

Havilli should've been given 10 minutes in the bin for that and the try awarded. Voluntary tackles to avoid being penalised for obstruction is hard to watch but what Havilli did last night is also a blight on the game.

Both the bunker and havilli should be charged for bringing the game into disrepute, bunker for allowing such a bullshit decision and player for falling into a opposing player.
