Don't be surprised with Petro retiring, Gagai sacked, Teo / Beale leaving, that Taylor end's up there, maybe making some room in the salary cap for him

PENRITH are fighting a salary cap crisis - with the club's current woes set to continue for at least another two years.
The Daily Telegraph understands that over half of Penrith's salary cap for 2014 will be taken up by just five players on huge back-ended deals worth nearly $2.5 million.

Panthers football manager Phil Gould has met with the ARL Commission to find some cap relief.

Gould would not reveal the five players but it is known that Luke Lewis, Sam McKendry, Lachlan Coote, Tim Grant and Michael Jennings are on healthy contracts. The back-ended deals were struck by Penrith's former management. Gould will hold further talks next week with NRL chief executive David Gallop and senior official Andrew Hill. The Panthers won't admit it but they are desperate for success given the arrival of GWS.

Sutherland Shire Council rejected the revised Sharks plan on Monday night, following a bitter debate which saw one councillor, Kent Johns, imploring the department of planning to ignore the submission lodged by his own council.
The Cronulla Sharks submitted a preferred project report to the department of planning last month which scaled back its original plans for Captain Cook Drive, Woolooware, from about 700 units to 600. The new project also saw a cut in the height of the residential buildings proposed for the site.
But the council resolved to oppose the latest plans, endorsing a report from council officers which said the new plan merely tweaked the previous one and ‘‘did not address council’s fundamental concerns that relate to the intensity of development in this location and its impacts’’.
The discussion prompted a tirade from Cr Johns who condemned the council-authored report as ‘‘flawed,’’ ‘‘biased’’ and ‘‘inaccurate’’ before describing the council as a band of ‘‘followers’’ and ‘‘doomsayers’’ devoid of any original ideas.
Cr Johns urged the planning department to ignore the council’s entire submission.
But he failed to sway the majority of councillors, although it prompted Cr George Capsis to joke that he had almost shed a tear.
Cr Capsis said the club had fooled fans into thinking the project would be good for the Cronulla Sharks football team.
‘‘It is not a good thing for anybody,’’ Cr Capsis said.
Cr Lorraine Kelly said the proposal had been assessed on its merits, and was particularly deficient in parking provisions.
Developer not surprised
A spokesman for the consortium behind the Sharks development, Ben Fairfax, said he was disappointed but not surprised by the council’s stance.
‘‘It is a very substantial change and some people can see the benefits [of the development] and others can’t,’’ Mr Fairfax said.
‘‘It would be nice to get more encouragement and feedback from the council, but at the end of the day we believe there are a lot of positive things this development can bring to Cronulla, Wooloware and even the Kurnell precinct

that doesn't surprise me one the sutherland shire council are still living in the 1980's dont want anything new down here i suppose all the affordable housing and jobs it will generate is not good enough for them

just glad that they have no say in the final outcome but pretty disappointing to have them come out and say that

It is an interesting development / debate.....as local councils (suppossedly) have the best interest of the entire shire in mind and not just the future of a football team I can understand both your passion for it and their hesitation against it.

Well apparently more people down here want more housing but the council doesn't want the development work that one out

as i said the council down here only ever look after themselves i cannot stand them they do absolutely nothing for us
like last year for instance i had a tree in the front of my yard due to a storm about to fall on my house called the muppets to come down and check it out and they did nothing about it so i cut it down and they fined me haha so i challenged the fine and won

bunch of useless overpaid bludgers who only ever look after themselves and are stuck in the 1980's

Good news for Titans fans and Princey fans. He hasn't been named in the team but he is a likely strater this weekend. The gos has just come straight from the Royal Hounds mouth just minutes ago.

Your comparing 2 different area's, the Kogarah junior base is no where near the size of the Illawarra, the Kogarah side struggles to field teams in some age divisions, still not to bad with Gasnier, Nightingale, Stanley brothers (couple of more coming through) BJLuleia (roosters) and a few more, not to mention there are a couple of players that have been relocated down to the Gong to get them away from "bad" influence's in Sydney...
