He's been a naughty boy for a while now. Like the Raiders, it puts the Warriors in a very difficult position. Instead of being able to discipline a player for his indiscretions (this, overeating, not training, goofing around, on the piss in town during weeknights etc) the Warriors have to hand it delicately otherwise the player's agent will swoop in and he'll be off to one of the rich clubs. Do you play him knowing he still has the x-factor to be the best on the park or call him to account for his misdemeanours? Players get away scott free and clubs suffer; what a backwards world this is sometimes. As with the Raiders, the Warriors can't afford to lose their up and coming superstars due to the difficulty of attracting outside talent to our locations...what do you do?

Well Konrad has delivered a release, but not the one Souths were hoping for

Meanwhile as the smoke clears from the Under 20 State Of Origin match 2 NSW players face suspension, one player has been reported for a 'Homophobic' slur against a Qld opponent whilst another player had obscene messages written on his strapping and then was involved in a incident of striking, whiles't I realise things can get 'passionate'/'heated' during a game these young blokes have to realise that they are now under greater scrutiny coming with their profile and the TV cameras and microphones pick up every little thing, they were talking about the strapping tape message on the Sports Sunday show on 2KY/Sky Radio and you could hear Stuart Clark and Jimmy Smith shaking their head's in dis-belief!.

Like Toddy Greenberg said - these blokes have no excuses. It's been unacceptable for years, the U20s get all the 'education' in the world, and if players at their level think it's cool to play/act that way, then the NRL should just cancel their registration. With all the money now in the game from sponsors and broadcasters, Zero Tolerance is only around the corner. Like the dinosaurs who thought brawling and the like under Coomans era thought it would go away, it won't. It doesn't make the game soft because you can't call someone a c*** or a p*** or a f**. These players need to start to wake up. The big broom is coming. It will sweep away those players who don't want to behave or act like human beings because when you have a billion dollar industry, you don't want numbskulls stuffing it up.

How are the Integrity unit going to handle this incident, by the way where can I get a copy to make my own Judgement!.

There's nothing too see and there should be no action taken IMO. Two consenting adults what's the issue? Maybe a neg driving fine for being on his phone whilst driving is as bad as it should get.

Ross

Exactly, all the fuss about it being so bad because it has happened to coincide with marketing around the women in league round. WTF, how does a video between two consenting adults in any way demean women. It wasn't released by Hurrell, the woman knew of its existence. There are plenty of other issues here, but demeaning women is not one. I'll be pissed if he is punished by the integrity unit, when we still have people who beat their wives and sexually assault women running around in our game. The trouble is that he would be an easy target to make an example of.

For me the issue with Hurrell is not this incident, rather the latest in a snowball of problems. He needs to grow up quickly. I still see him as a potential Meninga one day.

Backdoor Benny Elias retired 20 years ago. A lot has changed since then. Hell, Ian Roberts still hadn't come out in 1994. Furthermore, in 2014, the NRL, ARU and AFL just agreed to anti-homophobia policy. Not a particularly good look in a changing climate for a NRL up and comer to make homophobic remarks, no matter how silly/banal some sections may think they are.

Just imagine if some star player was about to bravely come out and now, some twerp in the U20's with nothing behind him other than tossing a Steeden around and banging his body up against other fellas making homophobic remarks on the field has dissuaded this player from coming out because he thinks nothing has changed in footy.

I always kinda felt it ironic that footy players would so easily derogatorily call some one a 'poof' when they actually run around with 25 other buff blokes, in tight shorts, tackling each other to the ground, rolling around in the mud and then when all sweaty and spent, group showering together afterwards.
