In the 1950's, apparently Manly-Warringah were called the Seagulls for a bit, as they had that bird plastered over the front of their jersey. However, according to Manly-Warringah, officially at least they have always been known as the Sea-Eagles.
That said, until the mid-late 1970's, the Berries and the Bluebags were still running around the NSWRL.
Just listening to the BSB and they're taking John Grant to task over his gaffs, a couple of older Manly supporters have rung in to say that Manly 'was' known as the Sea Gulls in the early days and I think that they changed to Sea Eagles early in the 70's, what does it say on the footy cards from the late 60's?.
I'm happy to see Kevin Gordon and David Mead take their place, although I'm sure Mead has always said he wants to play for QLD? he must not have a choice through the new rules
