Local team muscling back in? The titans? They are as close to Logan as Brisbane are.
I think the bitching is valid, the kid is still on contract and has clearly had an approach from Brisbane whilst under said contract. Brisbane moved their 6 and 7 on and had anticipated Milford coming no probs and they havent been chatting to him while on contract? that is not muscling in that is being sneaky and sly!
Canberra have had him on the books since he was 13 after he was overlooked by Brisbane. Not only have Canberra paid for all his football and schooling expenses along the way but they have developed him into a player with untold ability.
Maybe Brisbane should look to grow their own talent instead of the back door tactics they have clearly employed in this instance.
Oh but he is homesick and his father is desperately ill the Courier Mail and Broncos insist, we are doing him favour, we are the good guys here!
BS. His dad travelled to and from Canberra multiple times this year and Milford is now on the other side of the world for 6 weeks.
If he doesn't want to play for Canberra that is fine but he is contracted and I think he either plays out his contract or not at all.
No doubt Brisbane has contacted him either directly or through a third party. But Don Furner is coming out of this like a moron the way he keeps carrying on like a child throwing his toys out of the cot and having temper tantrums telling Brisbane they shouldn't be hunting for talent in Logan and cracking it because we've just invested million into the area to build world class facilities and training fields.
I think we see it two different ways obviously because of the teams we support. I don't see Furner having an issue with the facility etc but he is cranky that Canberra's talent scout, Mark Edwards has now gone to head Brisbane's development centre. Add to that the dramas involving his brother, Dugan, Ferguson and the terrible finish to the season I can see why he has the shits!!
With Milford he either shows proof that his dad is critically ill (don't think he can) or he plays out his contract and goes where he wants in 2015. Despite his huge potential he is one player and not bigger than the team. This is very damaging as Canberra have a huge amount of planning to do if they are hoping to regain some credibility in 2014.
Apparently Brisbane are offering Milford $600,000 per year however if he can get out of his existing contract for 2014 it will be substantially more.
Canberra are set to counter offer 1million per season through until the end of 2017.
As huge as his potential is this is ridiculous money. The kid has played 18 first grade games and only half those were starting. I think this kind of money could create massive division in the playing ranks. I suppose we will soon see how motivated he is by $$$
Apparently it was a Bra boy, I think it may have been reported in the SMH having a dig at how good his boxing career was going to be.......................

Raiders are mad to offer a mil a season. at least at Brisbane we can Heavily reduce damage to the cap with all the third party deals on offer but I still think $600,000 is too much.

A high profile Australian N.R.L player in the world cup squad, may next year sit out quite a few N.R.L first grade games from a n.s.w based team with third party endorsements have not been paid to him this year.
If he does not get payments will seek a release to go else where as $200,000 is owed to him from this year from third party endorsements.
Not good in this age of rugby league with so much money in the game for the players that they still cannot get their money as part of the contract.
