Messam is a flanker for the Chiefs (our local team here) in the Rugby Super 15. Played for NZ Sevens (named in the best NZ Sevens team of all time) and a few games for the All Blacks. I imagine he would play backrow in league. Has good size at over 6 foot and 110 kg or so and is very quick.

Apparently a pretty highly rated All Black who has his nose out of joint at being overlooked for selection, this rumour was going around a couple of months ago on the Tigers forum and keeps getting stronger and stronger, I'm sure there are a few other NZRU players who would be a little peed off with the golden run that $BW has been getting and ready to jump ship.

Reminds of Ma'a Nonu saying he'd like to play in the NRL a year or so ago. On one hand, I'd hate to see Union lose such an iconic player, but on the other I'd love to see how his line breaking abilities stacked up in the top level of League.

Rumour from the Wests Tigers fan forum is that Chad Townsend from the Sharks is off to Camp Concord in 2013, contracted to the Sharks but must have gained a release.

Messam has just been selected to start for the All-Blacks at Blindside Flanker so I wouldn't be surprised if the Tigers rumors get squashed.
