I think they overestimated a bit. In 2014 they had little to no promotion, they just started randomly hitting shelves close to mid-year, and were usually not at the counters (unless they found out people were opening them), but rather in the aisle where they chuck lunchboxes and seasonal promotion items and whatnot. Collectors and parents started buying them when they found out they existed (if they weren't one of the few aware before they came out) and they sold out of a large majority of their stock by August/September.I emailed them a few weeks back but am yet to hear anything from them about a 2016 release.
Would like to think they would, yet the mass price slashing they did at the end might see them reconsider, or at least stick to one series.
I don't have a Barba. The only Dally M's I got were 4 Haynes.I heard a story that the Coles stock ordering people got Series 1 in (2015)- heaps and heaps of it. It sold so well, they ordered more - exactly the same amount. Problem was, Series 2 was just around the corner. And so there was heaps and heaps of the 2nd order of Series 1 still out there when people should have been smashing Series 2.
The Dally Ms in the 2nd set didn't help either. People were selling a couple of the figs (Cronk? JT?) for $50 a pop I recall, though the Barba (who doesn't have a couple dozen of those?) were everywhere. Not that long ago, I saw someone selling all 5 for $20.
At the end of the NRL season, you could buy packets at Coles for 10c a packet. Considering they were $2 a hit originally, someone took a hit somewhere. The annoying thing for collectors is that Coles absolutely devalued peoples collections in a matter of weeks. I just cleaned out 20 odd packets from the centre console of my car. My wife says "oh, these will be worth something...esp the JT now he won the comp!". I rolled my eyes contemptuously and didn't say a word.
I think those figures are cool, though the micro figures are probably better because larger blind-box items are harder to sell I think. I also wouldn't mind some NRL themed Pop vinyl figures if they bothered to get around to it.I long for some good figurines like the 2008 Large Figurines with Signature Panels.
Confirmed for mid-march.
I think they stopped those because they were less affordable for collectors and less profitable for SelectThis set is getting dumber and dumber. Bring back the Large firgurines from 08 with the nice signature panels on the bottom
