NRL Micro Figures 2016?

I emailed them a few weeks back but am yet to hear anything from them about a 2016 release.

Would like to think they would, yet the mass price slashing they did at the end might see them reconsider, or at least stick to one series.

I think they overestimated a bit. In 2014 they had little to no promotion, they just started randomly hitting shelves close to mid-year, and were usually not at the counters (unless they found out people were opening them), but rather in the aisle where they chuck lunchboxes and seasonal promotion items and whatnot. Collectors and parents started buying them when they found out they existed (if they weren't one of the few aware before they came out) and they sold out of a large majority of their stock by August/September.

Then in 2015 they thought, "Hey, these are selling well" so they pumped up the promotion. TV ads, posters all around the store, photo face display things and TONS more stock as compared to the last set. The only thing they screwed up is that Series 2 wasn't as available, and by putting the Dally M's in both series, people bought out the second set in search for them as opposed to the larger first set. They probably made large profits, with people buying whole boxes (albeit only to find out they got the same 10 figures 3 times from 1 box) and others going for whole sets too. If they didn't put the Dally Ms in the second set as well they wouldn't have slashed the prices on so many figures.

I didn't buy any discounted figures because I had all of series one (or I think at the time was only missing 1 so saw no point) and Series 2 had sold out, which I needed a few from (and still do).

If they come out I probably won't go for a whole set this year, but then again I said that the past 2 years and I'm only missing 2 commons overall (both from 2015 Series 2). Lol!

I heard a story that the Coles stock ordering people got Series 1 in (2015)- heaps and heaps of it. It sold so well, they ordered more - exactly the same amount. Problem was, Series 2 was just around the corner. And so there was heaps and heaps of the 2nd order of Series 1 still out there when people should have been smashing Series 2.

The Dally Ms in the 2nd set didn't help either. People were selling a couple of the figs (Cronk? JT?) for $50 a pop I recall, though the Barba (who doesn't have a couple dozen of those?) were everywhere. Not that long ago, I saw someone selling all 5 for $20.

At the end of the NRL season, you could buy packets at Coles for 10c a packet. Considering they were $2 a hit originally, someone took a hit somewhere. The annoying thing for collectors is that Coles absolutely devalued peoples collections in a matter of weeks. I just cleaned out 20 odd packets from the centre console of my car. My wife says "oh, these will be worth something...esp the JT now he won the comp!". I rolled my eyes contemptuously and didn't say a word.

I don't have a Barba. The only Dally M's I got were 4 Haynes.

It's a shame they ordered too much in. I think a good amount would be in between 2015 series 2/2014 and 2015 series one.

I long for some good figurines like the 2008 Large Figurines with Signature Panels.
I think those figures are cool, though the micro figures are probably better because larger blind-box items are harder to sell I think. I also wouldn't mind some NRL themed Pop vinyl figures if they bothered to get around to it.

Confirmed for mid-march.

I'm so excited. Anyone know what the "Win" on the box is?

Only 23 figures is a bit odd. I can see George Burgess and Moses Mbye on the front of the box/folder and the gold one looks like Cherry-Evans. I'll see if I can head down today, if not can someone else upload a checklist?

Ok so there's 3 stages this year? might make it a bit easier to collect and explain why this series is so odd. Also don't know why there's another Foran with a different face and no Sharks common in the main set.

I'll get 2 George Burgess and possibly a Stewart after a closer look because that kinda looks like a Souths jersey.

EDIT: I think in the next 2 sets we'll get either Gray, Grevsmuhl, Johnston or Keary as a Young Star, the latter 2 might be regular commons though. I wouldn't mind Auva'a, Tyrrell, Clark, Turner, Goodwin, etc. as commons either and I'd pick up a Titans McQueen and a Manly Walker.

Didn't see any at my coles, but they had these:

Klemmer confirmed for stage 2 or 3?

EDIT: The official website http://www.nrlmicrofigures.com/ and this competition are launching on the 16th. The website also gives us a closer look at the Stewart Gold Figure. It's a Manly figure, even though there's already a Manly figure there and there's 1 from each team except souths. It's very confusing.

This set is getting dumber and dumber. Bring back the Large firgurines from 08 with the nice signature panels on the bottom

I think they stopped those because they were less affordable for collectors and less profitable for Select

OK, so after 5 coles today I managed to find packs at Waratah, Newcastle (aisle 9 for anyone going btw)

I pulled Burgess, Naiqama and Hoffman. I'm a bit filthy because Burgess is initialled on the back so I can't pick up 2 George and say one's Tom.

Also, I looked through the top of the folder and there will not be a Souths Young Star. There will be ones from Knights, Manly, Panthers, Eels, Roosters, Cowboys and Dragons from memory at 4 per stage. The Gold Figures will also be consistent through each series again. Hopefully they learn their lesson and make them rarer.

Also, there will be a wave of (Pretty sure Origin jersey) talking plush with "over 50 phrases" coming soon. QLD Thurston and NSW Gallen advertised on the leaflet.

Keep all your leaflet checklists as they have codes to enter a contest to win "The ultimate NRL experience" and I think other minor prizes.

The leaflet codes are a decent incentive to try for a full set but I don't think I'll bother until the later stages.
