Im a Manly supporter, have been since I was a kid as I saw a game at Brookevale oval.

But I want to give my five year old a chance to go for whatever team he likes.

So I thought I would come on here and see if anyone will sell there club.

Which team offers the best membership for kids?(remembering we live in WA)

Which teams are the best for returning TTM?

Look forward to reading the responses.
(Why do I want him to join an NRL team cos he sits and watches it with me but doesnt watch AFl-he walks off)

Thanks

I don't know if I can really sell my club well at the moment with all the issues in regard to $$$. But I can sell it from a point of view that your son is 5 years old, The Titans are also 5 years old. They are a young club and whilst we came last in 2012, we have signed some great young talent and some superstars of the game. Jamal Idris has been a cult figure in the NRL and he is now ours. On a personal note and other members on here can probably back me on this, the Titans guys are probably the most approachable I have ever met. They are genuinly a very nice bunch of blokes.

I also hear the Titans have an awesome mascot by the name of Blade.Freindly bloke inside the suit also.LOL

We have membership packages for the kids. They can be found here: http://www.titans.com.au/default.aspx?s=membership

At the end of the day, so long as he enjoys his rugby league... It doesn't matter who he supports

I like the fact that Titans are also only five years old...Not as many cards to collect either

Being mascot must make autograph hunting a lil easier;););)

Probably show him your picture when I get home and he be sold lol

Newcastle Knight have a kids membership for $70 per season. For that kids get the following:
  • 2012 Member Card
  • 2012 Member Keyring
  • 2012 Sticker Sheet
  • 2012 Magnetic Fixture
  • Knights Junior Backpack
  • Knights Mod Sized Football
Also the Knights are very good at TTM and you should get back everything you send pretty quick.

Knowing the Titans players does help a little bit, but, I wait out the back and line up with all the other fans to get autographs. It actually makes it hard for me to get autographs from opposing teams because I am busy before the game and exhausted after the game.

Anyway say Hi to the little fella for me.

I would've said Bulldogs for sure if you were in Sydney. Family of 4 (actually 5 for me as we carry the 4y.o. in) I pay ~$240 and get the following...
2 adult and 2 kids passes in General Admission section to 12 games which is ~$5 pp per game
entry to a number of members only day events to get up close with players for photos, sigs
every club membership gets discounts on team store items
members pack which includes bag, cap, lanyard for membership card, stickers, keyring, drink bottle and the kids get something else like a flag or footy

I just looked at the Bulldogs website in the virtual brochure and we have membership for interstate supporters. For your little man it'll cost $35 and he'll get...
a ticket to 2 games (if you get to Sydney)
member benefits
postage of your membership package which for a pup includes the stuff I mentioned in the previous post (minus flag, footy)
Her's the link if you want to take a look yourself http://thebulldogs.com.au/membership/2012/Membership_Brochure.pdf

SSFC has a long, distinguished and proud history, stretching back to the foundation of the NSWRL in 1908, along with our proud brother and sisters who support the mighty Sydney Roosters. Arthur Hennesey is Kangaroo #1 as the first captain to play for Australia.
Wearing the myrtle and cardinal, Souths have had a number of dynasties that would put Brisbane Broncos, Canberra Raiders or Melbourne Storm to shame. Souths have won the MOST premierships, totalling 20 in all (almost a fifth of premierships). They had a golden period stretching from 1923-1939, where they won 7 comps, were runners-up five times and semi-finalists four times, placing 7th in 1936. Legends include Alf Blair, George Treweek, Eddie Root, Benny Wearing
The next golden era was between 1949 and 1957 where Souths amassed another 5 premierships, and should have six except for dire refereeing in 1952. They were runners up twice more and 3rd on 2 more occasions. Players like Jack Rayner, Johnny Greaves, Ian Moir and Les Cowie led the comp and played for their country with distinction. This came after winning ONE game in 1945 and winning NO games in 1946.
The last golden era was between 1965-1971. Legends like Coote, Sattler, Simms, McCarthy, Piggins and O'Neill amassed four more premierships, running up twice more (once when they were Minor Premiers and dead set certainties to win in 1969).
The 1970's into the 1980's were tough financially, but the club made the semis during the 80's where a tough breed of rabbit gutsed it out week in, week out. Mario Fenech, Craig Coleman, Ian Roberts, Phil Blake, Les Davidson to name a few lead from the front, and 1989, Souths were minor premiers. They won the U23s President Cup with players such as Terry Hill, Jim Dymock, Sean Garlick, Scott Wilson, Manoa Thompson (Jarryd Hayne's dad). Finances, Super League and the NRL criteria dominated the 1990's with Souths travelling near the bottom end with teams of discards, young kids and honest toiling journeymen. And Craig Wing...yep...he was ours. Check out on YouTube his greatest try vs Cronulla in 1999.
The NRL deemed Souths were not a good fit for the NRL so they were out in 2000 and 2001, but Souths fans, and disenchanted fans of other merged/killed clubs along with a groundswell of public and political support finally saw us win our day in court and earn reinstatement in 2002. Sure, it hasn't been perfect for the past 10 years, making the finals once in 2007. However, between 2002 and 2006, finances once again dominated and Souths struggled on and off the field. Through that, we still had loyal, hard working gentleman toilers of the game in Luke Stuart and Scott Geddes.
A white knight in Russell Crowe has slowly rectified the finances in 2006/07, and our U20's team topped the table in 2010 and lost the Grand Final. But names such as Nathan Peats, Adam Reynolds and Dylan Farrell have all matriculated to the First Grade team, along with Jason Clarke and a number of others. It's taken a while to get the coach and playing roster puzzle pieces to fit but I think we're close. We've got Roy Asotasi, Sam Burgess, Issac Luke, Dave Taylor, Greg Inglis and a host of other players battling it out in 2012. I go week in and week out, and the rich tapestry of a hand me down culture continues. As a teen, old folks told me about the 40's and 50's with pride. There were tough times and wonderful times, and you have to take them both.
Plenty of RL supporters and the media focus on the fact Souths haven't won a comp since 1971, but its not for want of trying. We're a thick skinned lot, have adopted a logo that was originally a call of insult from opposing supporters and have amassed countless records across the game.
I couldn't be prouder to support a RL club. I did it by fluke, just by picking a scarf at KMart. 26 years later, my two boys are Souths members, my wife, my father-in-law and everyone I know rallies behind me and the team (even if they ain't Souths supporters) because of their soft spots for them.
I don't usually like to say it because it's not justified lately, but South Sydney are the Pride of the League. There was an old saying 'when South Sydney is doing well, Rugby League is doing well.'
I hope I've given you a bit of something for you to consider. Being a Manly fan yourself, I'd be getting him in to them because their history is just as proud and rich. But....if you really want to give them their own choice, if not Manly...and if they want to be part of something that will make you smile, make you cry, make you cheer and make you hoarse, and make you love a week at school/work when you win and hate the world when you lose...come on over to Redfern.
Finally, the players are quite happy to sign stuff, generally. Call Souths on 02 8306 9900, email thumper@rabbitohs.com.au or check out www.rabbitohs.com.au
Better still...Souths come to Perth each year and play this weekend vs Brisbane Broncos, another great team to follow too.

Seriously...not a single cut or paste other than the kids kit details from website. All God's honest truth. Actually have forgone a choccy bickie and hot chocolate to write it up before bed.
