Well after Sundays game I walked around to the back of the bus to get some autographs but the same faces were there in line waiting with heaps of cards. These faces were the same faces that got the players before the game when they were getting off the bus and at the away team bench before the game. By the time I had gotten there I felt as though I really didn't want the players looking at me as though I was an Ebay seller, so I left empty handed. I went down to the airport and the Coastsport preschool was there. By the time I got a few cards done you could tell players like Robbie and Braith had had enough.

I appreciate that some of the people there are collectors and those people with the clear conscious will know who they are.

My heart just ain't in it anymore. Too many f*#kwits ruining the the whole mood around collecting. I will still be getting my collection and the odd swaps for a select few collectors. But it aint fun anymore. Please note I will be pointing the South East QLD ebayers out from now on to the players. I will be making no secret of it either. No more Mr Nice guy. And I will not be loosing sleep over it.

....... Thats all I got to say about that.

I saw a tweet from Grant Mayer the CEO of the Tigers who said;

Hats off to the @Wests_Tigers players for keeping their cool. Organised group of kids harassing them for autographs. 10 ok buy 30+ is uncool

Interesting!

I no exactly what u are saying there blade, I had Qld training that day so couldn't make it to the game but made it down to try and get some cards for my PC after the game, got a few titans players but missed heaps, didn't even get close to the tigers players, then I thought I would go to the airport to get the tigers by the time I got there Anasta and farrar was wel and truly over signing as the group of kids sitting at a table had 100s of signed cards, I have been collecting cards for a very long time and it's becoming very difficult to collect ip signed cards these days

Don't worry your not the only one..they should tell them to piss of or write it on the card..that's y they get the shits nd ppl with a couple cards who do collect can't get there's done

I agree mate If I was a player I would dead set scribble on the cards, I have actually started carrying a couple if folders in me to show players and they are actually realy keen to sit down and look they them it's great

I've done that also Paul. I took them to show Lote Tuqiri the missing signed card from my collection that I needed him to sign.

Yeah thats what I'm goin to have to do with him and a few other players gasnier is another I don't want the sig he does now I got a couple of the older cards he's done with his full one same as slater I have got cards that long ago from him it's his sig on his redemption cards

Hey blade, I must admit you didn't seem yourself on Sunday, know what your saying it impossible to get some especially with the ebayers. Those kids at the airport were insane. When I left I think robbie was informing the other players what was going on.

It's not half obvious when someone has 10-20 of the same newly Realesed card to get signed..

Unfortunately what they are doing makes us collectors look bad but what can you do besides tell them off!

Name and Shame them to the players Troy. I have printed copies of listings and I will be taking them to the games to show the players. Ben, I will guarantee there will be a few... too quote Shane "GRUBS" there today that were there the other night.

The problem I see Dennis is people like me and you and honest ip collectors forever having to stand out and prove that we aren't selling. A player like Scott Prince who I have tried to talk to in the past wants nothing to do with the conversation and it is a struggle to just complete my titans sets because he would not sign more than 2-3 cards even if they were different

Then there is the Asian lady at the games who seems to think she has a right to get 20+ cards.

I am sure the players can see this right? It's a joke that some people think that ip collecting is an income! I lose money collecting and I'm happy for this to happen

On another note, where are the adults when coast sports has his little group going? I would love to see the club captains confront this bloke and politely tell him to get a real job!

The Coast Sport guy is in his minibus in the carpark because he wants to remain faceless and under the players radar. I still have to prove to guys like Birdy, Nate, Princey and Harro that I am a collector... and I have known Princey and Harro for years.

I am not sure if anything can be done via this site, but why don't we think of a Collectors' Association. That way, we can log everyone in as members, have members be given a members' card in a lanyard, and message all 16 NRL clubs (and A League, BBL/cricket, AFL, baseball, netball, etc) and let them know that our members are genuine collectors of players sig for personal use and trade. Would make it easy for club fan days too.

Of course the Association would need some rules around it to keep it honest. But I can't see why it can't happen. And we tell the NRL we buy shedloads of cards and only want some signed for personal use.

Personally, I stopped trying to get personal sigs because there were too many shysters and players just ended up scribbling/scrawling. I don't go for them unless I get them personally signed myself anyways.

Just an idea. The hobby needs to be protected and this is one way it could work.

Also just like to note that not all of us are in a position to get sigs to trade as we live in the far fetched regions of this great wide country and don't have any other choice but to trade inserts/multiple cards or buy them from people on here or fleabay.
As much as I like the idea of some sort of collectors association, if it meant anyone involved could not sell sigs through this site I would have to say that's a big no from me.
Unfortunately in Darwin we only get one game a year (and one trial every second as it alternates between here and Alice Springs) so for me its wait and see who is coming and hope they're in a good mood on the day.

Second that, I have to trade/buy to complete my IP collections as I also only get one NRL game near where I live per season. Having said that I do not buy off known sig pigs, only people who I know are collectors and I have a nice couple of contacts that look after me.

I think the NRL should take a tougher stance; inform the players to only ever sign 1/2 of the same card and get grounds to tresspass fans who repeatedly are found to abuse the priviledge of obtaining autographs, whether in person or via minions (the minivan in the carpark is a hard one though, scum).
