NRL Cards Idea!!!!

Hi guys

Saw the AFL one and thought I would make a NRL thread.

Here are my ideas:

-Get rid of sketchs, gems and foil sigs
-Add some Dally M medal cards. Like 10 cards for the Dally M showing all players who won.
-Do a quad player cards, showing the key players in the keys positions (Fullback, Five-Eight, Halfback and Hooker)
-Have Four Nations or Representative cards. About 36 cards showing Australian/New Zeland or State Of Origin players.
-Maybe some autos :)
-Maybe some game-worn jersey cards.

What do you guys think?
 
keep sketches IMO. i like them, yeh autos are good, game worn jerseys are good, i have a 2003 ricketson, i think two players on the club players like a forward and back like the st george 2007 invincible one.
 
I liked the sketches and foil sigs but they have been done too much now so a change might be good. Gem cards are good but the designs of the last two years were pretty crap IMO.

I would love to see the game used cards.

Rep cards would be good.

A top pointscorer and/or try scorer subset could be good. It could be the top from each team or top 5 or 10 in NRL from the previous year.
 
nice ideas. I think Sketches are okay but been done too much. I say change them a bit as they also look the same. Also, if you are keeping gems, change the design to a very classy design :)

I think my idea is still good:

Have 16 cards (one per team) and on each team have the 4 best players in the key positions
eg for Cowboys
Fullback- Bowen
Five-Eight- Burns
Halfback-Thrston
Hooker- Payne
 
KEEP SKETCHES BUT MAKE THE SKETCHES, LIKE THE GOOD PLAYERS

LIKE PEOPLE THE FANS LIKE

EG EELS - HINDMARSH HAYNE
COWBOYS - BOWEN THURSTON
PANTHERS - JENNINGS GORDON
STORM - SLATER CRONK or SMITH
and the others yeah
 
A state of Origin set would be great were one side of the card is a Queensland player and the other NSW player.

Also a set of auto cards of established players that is somewhat obtainable. Usually they are 1 in a case odds. They should go the same numbering as Top Prospects, around 1 a box.
 
Great idea with the State of origin cards. They should been done horivotally and have both players in the same position from different state (eg- Slater/Gidley)

Select won't do game worn jerseys again anytime soon...........the first and last lot they did in 2003 had to all be done by hand as Australia is not geared up for manufacturing these cards like the states are..........they are nice but i hear too much trouble for select to make.

Get rid of sketches, GEMS foiled sigs.......I would like to see more auto's, some rare and some more common.............and I like the idea of tri nations or origin sub-sets...........maybe something different like acetate auto's by redemption or something.............that would be cool.
 
A new company to start up to give select some competition would be a good start.

I would like to see a dual auto of some kind next year. I like the idea of making autos of established players a bit more obtainable. I have no doubt select will persist with club player of the year/team of the year/medal card etc etc. so why not make it a bit more exciting and say, make autos out of the club player set, even if they are limited to 25 or 50 per player. just for something a bit different, then fans of every club would have a decent player to chase down an auto for. I was spewing the roosters top prospect auto this year was for ben jones, he would deadset be lucky to get a run in reserve grade at most other clubs. but anyway.....

Dual auto of a past hero and present day star would be awasome. Dual auto of hayne and kenny/sterling or whoever or dual auto for fittler/anasta etc etc.

Game used would be awesome, match worn jersey cards, jersey auto cards, or how about a state of origin dual auto card, with both captains signing the card and then having a piece of the game used ball on the card as well. that would be awesome. They could do that for a test match as well, even a grand final.

I could go on and on and on with ideas but I really dont think select care. Maybe cost would be an issue for some of the above ideas, i dunno. But im sure most collectors wouldnt mine shelling out a bit of extra coin.

In saying that i think it is very important to keep series 1 cheap and fun. Gotta get the kids interested in collecting and i think series 1 is a great way to do that keep packs at 3dollars or whatever they are.

Select need competition, badly.
 
Maybe some of us guys should start our own NRL card business! I wouldnt have a clue where to start though.

And I like your ideas bdean. I would love a Bowman/Bowen or Bowman/Thurston sig. :)

And it is true about the top prospects. I was also a bit dissapointed with John Williams. I like the guy but he has been playing since 2005. I thoughtit would be Tamou or Steve Rapira.

There should be some autos in the 1st series as well because last year the double troubles were hard to get but they were not worth the effort. Maybe an auto on them may have made them more valuable.

This is my idea for next years first series.

Footy Faces: 1 per pack
Captain foiled sigs (I know but at least these are of decent players) 1 per 6 packs
Rising Star Sketches: 1 per 12 packs
Club legends: 1 per 18 packs
Dally M awards: 1 per 36 Packs
All star Signature Redemptions: 1 per 72 packs
Dual Auto redmptions: 1 per 8 boxes

what do you guys think?
 
I agree

But those 2 redemption cards would be pricy. I say do a type of top proseptc card but change it to:

Get 2 players on it and do a sort of position cards, with 2 players in that position.eg- Ty and John Williams for a Wingers card, or Burns ad Thurstons for Playmakers.
 
They need to look at what the card companies in US are doing, the market in Aus is really big so why not go into the 2 autos and 2 jerseys per box?

very nice ideas mate.
i like them.

i would like to see these:
Commons- 195 with a scanlens type design.(with the auto part down the bottom)
Holographic Foils- 1 per pack Similar to 2008
Foiled Sigs- 1 in 6 packs Similar to 2008 Design but with more established Players such as lockyer, prince, inglis etc.
Modern Day Legend Sketches- like 2007 cards with established players. 1 per 12 packs.
Honour Roll- like 2005 with award winners.
Modern Day Legend Autos- With players like lockyer etc. 1 in 36 packs(but say like 1000 per player)
Team of the Decade Signatures- each teams, team of the decades captains have an autograph card. 1 in 72 packs.
