New To this card trading thing

Hi i have a lot of basket ball cards that my dad and i have been collecting for many years and i was hoping someone could point me in the right direction for the sale prices of these cards or should i wait till my children are old enough to have them.,,

I would recommend you look at the year and brand on each card if you have the time and check ebays sold items..
Hopefully it should give you some idea (with the main stream players) a rough idea what you would expect.
Beware the vultures that would take advantage of your lack of knowledge.
