Hi all, I recently started working on a client site at Melbourne (I am from Sydney), and I am going to be there for possibly 2 months, just wondering what's there to do in Melbourne? can use some tips and advises on the following topics:

1) Any nice food around the docklands area?
2) Any nice food in the CBD?
3) Where can I play some basketball (just pick up games) near the city (ideally indoors)?
4) Any nice pubs to hang out after work in town?
5) Any card shops?
6) Any great night spots? for some entertainment.

Thanks in advance.

Go for a swim in the Yarra and come out looking like a Toxic Avenger :) jks i do quite like Melbourne. Plenty of places to choose from to eat, i rather enjoyed Tony's Kitten Club in the CBD. Card shops not many but there is a place called Card Zone that i heard is quite pricey but...
Rooftop bars are good for night spots.

Rooftop cinema is good when it's running (ie. summer!)....there's a great value noodle/dumpling bar at the GPO (I forget the name of it)....if you like Greek food try Stallectites.....go out to Lygon St in Carlton and try Key on the Wall for the best Italian food....the Trust bar on Flinders Lane.....the Belgian Beer Garden....New Kum Den in ChinaTown....the Cherry Bar if you like rock 'n' roll.....the casino always has something to do......check out the Queen Victoria market....you could attend some of the Spring carnival races...Big Bash T20 cricket....watch Patty Mills play for the Melb Tigers......

I think I will pass on taking a dip in the Yarra... I have been to Kitten's and I must say that's something you definitely won't find in Sydney, thanks for the suggestions. I think King St has a whole bunch of other ones, not sure if they are any good though.

Thanks for all those suggestions... I will definitely head to Lygon St in Carlton to see what's around...

For cards check out dandenong market on a Saturday and carribean gardens on a Sunday, also cherry collectables hold fairly regular swap meets so keep an eye out for info on the next one

I am back in Sydney on the weekends though, so probably can't make it to any of the markets or trade meets.
