Missed it by about 5 minutes ;) i've just merged the 2 threads.

Just been made official. Rudd out, Gillard in. Wayne Swan is the deputy.

Just saw a comment "This is just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic"

Without getting too political, can't see them winning the next election.

I saw this comment on the news..

Rudds philosophy is "we'll do it my way. End of discussion!". He is so short sighted and literally blinded by power he cant see that the people he is tramping all over are the same Labor Kingmakers that anointed him in 2007.

All this and I haven't even gone into the many failed policies and the billions of taxpayer money that has been wasted under his rule. Julia will ascend to the leadership but the problem Labor face is "Same Script, Different Cast". Labor will have a new leader yet their dangerous policies remain.

Re: australias first female pm..

I vote gillard.
kevin was just a lemon.

That's actually the problem with today's decision Mark...nobody voted for Gillard.

As he wasn't aligned to any party faction, he was always going to be an easy target when the news polls fell. However, the bit that I find uncomfortable is that we now have a Prime Minister who was not democratically elected to her role by the people, but has been placed there by the political machine of the unions. You can say that the people voted for her in her electorate, so democracy has taken place, however she did not go into the election as leader...we did not have the chance to vote for her to lead the country.

I know it has so far, but please keep this on topic of discussing the new Prime Minister.

Any fighting or heated debates about politic will see the thread closed down quick smart. Just a word of warning :)

That will teach you for ignoring me last time you were at the burswood and i opened a side gate for you to sneak out from the press !!

not a huge fan of politics, but good to see julia in charge, i belive she'll do some good in her short time before the election and hopefully will find a compramise with the mining industry.

She cant do any worse a job than the other idiots before her.Good luck to her,she definitley has more
personality than other pms,she seems pretty down to earth as well.

Now to the polls , Hopefully good bye Labour party and good riddance. Labour are good for making promises they can't keep and spending money and lining Bludging Unionists pockets can't wait to see there demise .

Kevin Dudd

BRING BACK THE LIBS !!!!!!

Congrats on becoming Australias first female PM.

I am over both Labour and Liberal ! they just seem to baffle everyone with BS

Congrats to Julia ... hope it doesn't turn out to be like the political situation here in Queensland.
Beattie leaves and Blight (not a spelling error) just carries the ship on the same slippery path.

I think he has been stabbed in the back by his closest team mambers - Gillard and Swan. Yes he was suported by them to become the leader. But he was put up there because of his "personality" to get votes and win the election, which he did........but also in great part due to the stubborness of Howard.

Once he is in.......he runs it as "my house my rules".......but he always did things through his "kitchen cabinet" of Rudd Gillard Swan Tanner.

If things turned sour, which it did, it was not just Rudd's fault. It was the fault of those 4 making the decisions without consultation. If Gillard and Swan were looking out for him, they would have insisted things go to the caucus and party rather than make the decisions within the 4 of them.

Does everyone remember Mark Latham....very popular until his true colours turned up. Lucky he did not become PM before everyting was all found out. Unfortuantely for us, Rudd's true face came out after he got the top job. No one knew of his mean streak before he was elected.
