I'd say you'd get a better price privately than a car yard, but make sure you get a mechanic to look at it before you buy(especially if private) - you get a full report for a fee which is well worthwhile. GL!

ps buy the QUOKKA from any newagent for ~$2.50 if you haven't already - usually many good deals in there.

thanks for everyone's opinion. really appreciate :-D
maybe will see whether got any other car i can buy before make decision.
thank you~

Good luck mate, I got my car out of the Quokka 7 years ago, 1984 Camira for $500, and it hasn't caused me any problems in those 7 years! Touch wood! :D

JV a Camira! I can't believe it's lasted that long, you must have got the good one, or you must have a good mechanic, lol.

Zodiac, as long as it's the 4 cylinder Charade, it's not a bad price with the cost of fuel at the moment, because there's more of a demand for cars that are cheap to run. ALWAYS haggle on price for something like a car. Start at your minimum and negotiate from there for the best deal that you can afford. Being a mechanic myself, I also recommend you get a local mechanic to check the car out before buying. Find a car you like, ask the seller nicely if you can organise for a mechanic to look at it and check it over. Believe me, the number of cars I have checked out for customers that look perfectly fine from the outside, can have some pretty expensive problems that cost more than what the customer is paying for the car. Things like a blown head gasket which can be sometimes very hard to pick.
Good luck with it.

If you know anything about cars and the charade seems to be running good and the engine bay isn't covered in oil, it would be a good cheap car for anywhere near $2k (especially if it's still under 150,000 kms) dont bother if it dosn't have rego.... anyone got a nice ride here ? I would like to see it

for that much I would expect close to 6 months rego

thanks, maybe i should try to arrange a time to ask a mechanic to check the car. thank mate,

i not sure how many Kms that car goes to, but the engine is a little bit Noisy.

if the seller not allow me to have a mechanic to check.. i might just give up, and look for another car.
