Hi guys. How are y'all. :D
First of all merry christmas to you.

I just needed some help with ebay.
Couple of weeks ago I bought a dress for my girlfriend as a christmas present.
The seller had put up the postage as USPS Priority Mail International at $31.35.
After few days of the payment, I asked the seller if he/she had sent the dress.
I got a reply saying he/she sent it on USPS First Class Mail International!!!

So I sent her message and explained that I paid $31.35 for the postage so on.
Still yet to hear back from the seller.
Luckly the dress turned up today so I can give it to my girlfriend in time.
But the thing that pi$$ed me off is that the stamp on it just says $9.04 on it.
For the packaging the seller has used a lousy paper envelope bag which looks like has been re-used.
Meaning that the seller just took my $22 for nothing.

So I want to ask our fellow OZcard members if I can do anything to get the money back from the seller.
I paid it through Paypal, but the thing is I never had the experience with Paypal claims before so if anyone can help me how I can go on about it step by step it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Ki.

put a claim in about inflated postage rates you should get some $$ back save the envelope and postage stamp though you may need it.

just move on. happens all the time. Give them negative feedback for over charging postage.

I was going to just neg his/her a#$, but thought it would be better to get the money back while I'm at it. :D

Hate greedy seller slike that who scam you out of shipping money.... the postage you are giving them it to actually PAY FOR THE POSTAGE for the item...... who woulda thunk it..... it't s NOT a XMAS gift for you to pad your pockets!!

Yeah... this was my first bad experience with an ebay seller.
Never expected to get this kind of treatment from a seller that has 100% and over 300+ feedback. :(
Oh well... I will be waiting for reply for next three days.
If no reply then I will just shove a neg and a Paypal claim for his/hers crissy present.

I bought a card from US and he charged $18.95 for international postage which I wasn't aware of when bidding... anyways, I asked him if he would ship by any cheaper methods but he didn't respond. After days of waiting I just paid and said that I hoped he'd refund any difference in postage price. The card arrived in a bubble envelope with $2.23 postage on it...
I sent him a message and he asked me to put a request for funds through paypal for a refund for some of the postage fees. I said that it would incur me fees and I didn't know how much to charge, so told him to just refund how much he thought was fair. He gave me back $10, so I still paid $8.95 for $2.23 postage... I haven't left him any feedback yet but if I do it will be positive with a comment about high postage and giving him 1 star for postage price...

The one thing i hate is excessive postage, just when you think you have got a bargain, you then realise that excessive postage cost have killed you..
Anyway shouild take into consideration packaging as well, even though the stamp says $2.23, he still would have to pay for the envelope and maybe some of the packaging, but still excessive..

Yeah, I said to him that I didn't know how much it cost for the envelope or to get to the post office so to refund me how much was fair... still think it was a bit much but it was a nice card that I needed and so I can deal with it...

I guess it wasn't all up to your full expectation but it's good that you got some money back.
Also it was good of the seller to actually keep in contact with you.
My seller still no reply!
It's been two messages and four days so far...
Damn... :(
Can any guys tell me how to open a Paypal dispute?
I reckon he/she would start reacting if I open up one.
Thanks.

Ki

Log in to your paypal account and click on the relevant transaction, you should be able to do something from there. Alternately you can do it through ebay.

Yeah..... it's funny how fast most sellers respond to you once you open up a claim... when they easily ignore you otherwise.

Hey guys.
Tried to put in a claim through Paypal and I got this message:

"We're unable to decide this claim in your favour at this time.
PayPal's Buyer Complaint Policy applies to the delivery of goods but not to disputes about merchandise quality.

What happens next

We encourage you to work directly with your seller to resolve this matter."

Does this mean that I can't get any of my money back? :(

I thought this had to do with excessive postage not merchandise quality?

I ticked the box with the postage costs when I wrote up the dispute.
But later when I wanted to escalate with the claim it would not let me and said about merchandise quality.
And now it does not let me change the details of the claim.
This is my first time that I need to put a claim through so I might have made a mistake. :(
What can I do from here?

My best advice would be to give them a call... they are usually FAR more helpful on the phone than they are via email.

Good Luck!

I called Paypal today.
They said can not take it into claim because it has nothing to do with item not received or bad quality of the item.
They said regarding the overpricing of shipping I can only talk it through with ebay or the seller. :fist:
Which practically means that I have no chance of receiving back the money because the seller would not respond! :swear:
Well I guess this taught me a good lesson.
My first bad experience on ebay.

P.S Thanks to you guys who helped me out with this.
I really appreciated it.

Ok then what you do is contact the seller and tell them that they charged you $31 for postage which wasn't sent that way and only cost $9, so if they don't refund you some of that you will leave them negative feedback. Then wait to hear what they say. If nothing within a few days send the same message but say that you'll be doing this in the next day or so so they'd better hurry up...
