As some of you may or may not know, I play softball. My team is the Saints and we made the Grand Final this year, I was unable to play due to injury.

Last saturday was the Best and Fairest. I had a few Best on Grounds, but it was a fairly even team effort, no real runaway...

Coming into the final round, our Pitcher Danni and myself shared 14 votes each....

I received two votes and Danni 3... so she won... but for the first time ever I came in the top two!

I was presented my award by the Mayor of Launceston Ivan Dean.

and here I am making what one of the club stalwarts called the best speech of the day (all about the fact I was only standing up there because for every play I made someone else played their part. and for everyone run I scored, I had help...)

Way to go.

I love softball. I play mens 'B' grade fast pitch in Melbourne.
Also play masters baseball but softball is so much better and faster.

One of the girls I used to play Softball with, plays baseball in a Women's or a mixed side AND a Men's side over in Melbourne.

thanks for the congratulations guys. I'm really proud of the effort as I feel liek I steppe dup to be an on field leader this year, even if I wasn't named captain.

Congrats AJ! Best and Fairest is kinda like the MVP award and it looks like it was a close finish in your comp as well. You and Danni are like Nash and Dirk

Runner-up still means if you'd have broken her leg prior to the last game, you'd have won it......err.. I mean, it still means your important to your team, and that's what counts!

LOL Well I am determined to have an even more team orientated season and to have increased my running speed, which can only help!

Plus I get to start the season with lead-of hitter sown up.... and I reckon I could almost talk them into having me play shortsop..... problem with third base is you're not always in the game... but it i important to have a good 3rd baseman.... as when balls are pulled down the line.. if you have a dodgy fielder... its the bst spot to put it cos of how far in the outfielder has to run for that ball...

so I dunno, we will see
