Hi all,
just been going through some albums, mostly promo stuff.
thought i'd scan some things as I go through, kinda make a little
thread of my oddball stuff and maybe include some info on how I got it
or why I wanted it at the time sort of thing if I remember, my memory isn't getting any better, so this might act as a personal diary for me.
Also there are things I would like info' on so if you have a story on any of my stuff, I’d love to hear of it, a large part of my collection, or me collecting promo stuff, is knowing the origin of it, why it came to be, how it was acquired, production run #s, variants of any kind, any info is great info for me.
Nothing is for sale here, if there are multiples of things I might do a for sale thread and put it there.
anyways, i'll start with some futera sample cards, rather then scanning complete sets i'll just show them in blocks of 4 as there kept like that.
Apparently futera produced 50 sets of samples per series.
only some dealers got one set to display in store, the bulk of the samples didn't really come out until futera closed down.
1994 - Elite 11's, Hattrick Card, Great Cricket Memories & Border Hologram
1995 - Bat 2 Balls, Supreme Team
3 Redemption Sets: Greg & Ian Chappell, Greg Blewett.
Even though they have sample printed on them, futera still punched the
hole out on the redemption cards before giving out, would like to know
if anyone has seen an unpunched sample redemption?
1996 Cricket Elite: Impact Card, Marsh/Lillee Redemption set,
Specialists set & Freshman set
That'll do for samples for a while, i'll get back to them later.
1994 Futera NBL Series 1 (Keyway Set)
Complete set of 110 cards, all overstamped with the Keyway Logo on front
Being a checklist freak, I'd really love another set of these 4 checklists
if anyone has a broken set?
1993 Hot Surf: common set of 50 has a variation set of 25 fronts & 25 backs.
There were miss printed cards where they had the front of the card on both sides and the backs of cards on both sides.
so for example, card #1 has the front of card #50 on the back, so two fronts, card #2 has #49 on the back, so 25 cards make the complete set of fronts, same with the backs, 25 different cards with the backs on both sides.
There's more backs then there are fronts, I found a set of fronts in about every 500 packs and 3 sets of backs in 500 loose packs.
Mark Richards Auto's from the export series..
Electric Chair Hologram from True Crime II
was one of my greatest non-sport pulls, and from an $8 box!
whew, i'm scanned out, bye for now..

ok a few more..
'95 Futera Grand Prix: wrapper redemption promo
Set of 2 promo's for Ashes Winning Captains series & the jack dempsey boxing greats promo from the U.K.
'94 Futera NBL: black & white "sportscard expo geelong" promo cards
these are copies of the futera commons, in B&W, thin card stock and the front has the overprint promoting the expo at the arena, geelong in '94.
#21 Adrian Branch - #22 Cecil Exum
think these were inserted in one of the magazines, not really sure now.
are there only 2 different ones?
When dynamic switched names to intrepid, everything seemed to go downhill
from there, although a few gems came out of it in the end i s'pose.
at ozcon in '96 the intrepid stand was really buzziing with a heap of no-name stars signing autographs, there tables overflowing with promo cards and freebies, opposite side Select were dishing out promo's too, wayne campbell signing auto's, Tempo throwing out pumped up downunder & gladiators promo's, it was an f'n frenzy for us promo hoarders at the time, if it was free, i'll take 3 was our motto, well, I took the lot if I got away with it
Super League was flavour of the day, did not happen but the promo cards did
Regular & Ozcon variant..
'96 Rugby League have the same ozcon variant
Netball is played by one million girls in australia, if you want to pick up, then a netball game is about as good a place as any to do so.
and if your no good at picking up then do like I did and hunt around for anything promotional that you can hide under your jumper, flags, programs, scarfs and knickers were my fav's
1997 was a great year in netball, would you believe fisher & paykel, the fridge dudes, produced a promo series of cards!
3 series, one for the under 21's the seniors, and the australian olympic team
U21's set of 12
Seniors Set of 12
Olympic Team Set of 9

Star Wars Harmony Foods Promo Set of 24..
was the hardest food promo card set i've ever tried to complete!
they came in little tins shaped like a movie reel, inside was two little packs
of gummi bear type lollies and 3 cards, problem was every tin in my area had the same 3 cards! collation was really bad, they were only around for a few months and gone, I only completed a couple sets when I found the tins in a clearance bin at target later on down the track.
Star Wars Movie Shots (netherlands)
in '97 I stopped in amsterdam, went there for 4 days to chill half way through a euro drive through before moving on.
I ended up staying there for 36 days, had a ball, and during that time they had these movie shot things in packs of chips, did hundreds, maybe a thousand packs of chips, that's all I remember for my trip there.
Star Wars retailer promo envelope, dealer incentive promo, contains the MM1 multimotion widevision promo

TV Week promo cards were another tuff promo set to complete.
in promo circles, series 1 went relatively unknown until series 2 came out.
one card per issue, series 2 was 32 cards so 32 weeks to complete the set,
series 1 had 24 cards, also there were Gold versions randomly inserted, problem was when you found gold, all the tv weeks in that bundle had gold! was just a matter of finding the golden bundles
series 1 gold set of 24..
series 2 gold set of 32..
But wait.. there is more!
in between series one & series two there was a "special series" a set of 4.
here's #1 of 4, gold version, don't know if there was a common version.
have never seen #s 2, 3, 4 of 4 either

Austin powers goldmember token thingies from chips.
only a set of 25 but each one has 5 different colour backs!
the 3 fat bastard ones were only in multi packs which made completing the variant set
a total bastard
