You may recall a recent thread I did about having lodged a paypal claim and asking your thoughts on my chances

The original thread

Well paypal have made their decision and ruled in my favour. The seller only had 0.11c in their account. Looks like I will be doing a charge back on my credit card.

The seller has claimed that I only asked for a customs number and not a tracking number and has appealed the decision. Paypal say that will not affect the original decision and is now between them and the seller.

Paypal asked me to provide any correspondence between myself and the seller which was several emails where the seller clearing states 'here is your tracking number' , then when it turned out to be dodgy he used the line that the Post Office told him they get re-used.

I think they have shot themselves in the foot big time

No paypal have refunded 11c so far and gave the usual spiel about trying to recover the balance from the seller. Then they say that if they can not do that they will restrict his selling preferences. How stupid if he can not sell than how can he get money into his account to pay me.

I have decided the only way to really get my money now is to do a chargeback

That is complete BS! I thought you were covered 100% as a buyer on paypal thesedays, regardless of how much was in their account, sounds like they've gone back to the old days where you're ****ed unless they have some money there... I don't see how they can't have done more when it's completely obvious he's done you.

I agree, which is why the chargeback. Read up on the paypal site and they can not refuse a charge back and will overdraw the sellers account when one is received. Why can't they just overdraw his account now and not wait for him to get some money in there.

i thought paypal would put that guys account into negatives. I swear i have herd this happening to people before.

So in the end they owed paypal money.

Yeah paypal should offer insurance....the whole idea of insurance is to be protected and a car insurance company wouldn't not pay out if the person at fault didn't have any money...

Ring them up dude. I ALWAYS get my way with paypal when I ring them and bring them to my understanding with reason ;)

Damn Paypal... :swear:
They always seem to make simple easy things more complex and inefficient.
Hope everything works out for you. :D

From what I have read on the paypal site they only do that when a chargeback is done because paypal can not legally refuse a charge back hence that is why I intend to do a chargeback

Yes I've had this done to me from an American buyer who claims the card was never received, he put in a claim I didn't have the funds in my Paypal account so they just put mine in debt and refunded him the whole payment.

Not really sure what's going on with your situation but it doesn't sound good

Yeah isn't it part of the whole use paypal spiel that you are cover and that it's safer etc, etc, etc complete BS by the sounds of it if they get there $$$ who gives a crap.
