Starting at 5.30 am tomorrow I will start paddling from Gympie to Maaroom. It's 90 klms to the salt water and a further 130 klms down the coast to Maaroom.
I'll only be taking what fits inside my Hobie kayak.
The last week here has been around 2-5 degrees in the morning, so the starts each day might be slow. Should be fun, but a challenge as I'll be alone.
I wasn't able to keep dry, weather is terrible here. I managed to travel 69.4 klms.
Spent the last night trying to sleep in water. Had a fire going, so I was warm, but wet.
Bit of a shame, but I'll try again in September.
I had a team of helpers, not everyday, but some days. That was planned.
The trek was down the Mary river from Gympie to River Heads and then south down the coast to Maaroom.
Scariest moment was encountering a barbed wire fence while doing about 10 klms/hr, I managed to avoid it. But the guy who joined me that day got wrapped up in it. The water was to strong to help, was a scary minute.
