My new Website.

Asian Fresh - Home

Everyone who doesnt know me I'm Rick..

I collect afl cards and am very active on this website..

I am thinking of developing a website that covers my football card collection.. plus possibly my fathers collection..

Just want to know from other members if they think this is a good idea, or a waste of money..

Wow very tidy website Rick.

That's website looks more like a recipe/ideas website, so what do you do for a living then?

With regards to an AFL website, many people on ozcardtrader have made their own websites, some which look very fine indeed.

If you want to keep it simple however, I would just upload pictures of your cards to photobucket or another similar website.

yeah mate it is my website I designed to encourage people to eat more fresh food, one being Asian Vegetables, because I am a farmer of Asian Vegetables...

And when it comes to the photo bucket Idea... I agree, just that I was thinking of doing something pretty serious possibly listing all my high end cards including numbers etc with photo's of evey card..

dunno.. just thoughts in my head

If you go to the main page of ozcardtrader and then click into 'PC Website Links' it might give you a few ideas of how you want to do it.

To me collecting is only half the picture... displaying your collection at home or online is the other important part.

pakchoy, I have a website for my memorabilia collection (NAZIM'S CRICKET PAGE 2). It costs me approx $200 per annum for the domain name and hosting. I am able to offset some of the costs through advertising and in donated memorabilia, but to be honest, the true worth for me is that I'm able to catalogue my entire collection, which is handy for insurance purposes, is fun to look through and in the process I was able to play around with php web development and have made a few great friends.

I started off with a freebie website, but hated having no control over the advertising which would pop up, was limited by space and not having a database meant the information couldn't be easily transported, searched through etc etc.

Hope this helps you with your decision.

Afl , VFL, ciggarette cards etc, Scanlens

hi rick. very very very neat setup you got there mate. really love the way you've kept it simple and how u havent over crowded things on there. the layout couldnt have been better. very nice way you've got the recipes and "how to" with each food too. not a fan of rating sites, but honestly mate i'd give you a 9 out of 10 for that one. do u use any particular web design program at all?? Dreamweaver was the one i was using for a good period at one stage when i was putting a few websites together for some customers. if u need any help or advice on anything dont be shy to ask me. cheers mate, good stuff

I've just got everything under normal home contents insurance and I've advised the insurance company that all items are catalogued on my website, which they say they would accept in the event of a claim (hope never to test this out).

On the insurance front, be sceptical as to what the insurer tells you. Normal household insurance will generally only insure up to the value of $999.00 per item unless special or "portable" insurance is taken out.

For collections of memorabilia or cards etc, the insurers will generally advise that you have a commercail collection ( dus to its value) and inturn will want to sell you commercial insurance. This is quite expensive versuses home and contents but well worth it if you have a high dollar figure or items of value that you really cant easily replace.

So I suggest you look into it a little further and definately confirm with them in writing that they will cover your collection for an agreed value.

They can be like cut snakes so look after yourself and the collection !!

Thanks for the advice Damian. I'll look into this further. Fortunately (or perhaps unfortunately) very few items in my collection are high ticket items. I guess the set of 21 signed Bradman cards is about the only thing I would consider of substantial value, but it's certainly worth making sure that should something happen to any of it, I would be compensated

inregard to your insurances for your items my previous job was a home theft client manager for aami. inregard to aami can not advise of any other company you can actually specifiy the items for as much as you want up to the value of 25% of your house hold insurance. it does not cost anymore. you just have to let them know. if you ever make a claim you are required to have evidence of ownership which is photo's etc. if you do not specifiy the items the maximum aami will cover you for is $1000.00. i hope this helps
