Ya'll saw the Damaged Quad Diamond Auto I got the other week?

Well I sent the seller an email about 2 days after I got the card. Had 1 response saying it wasnt damaged when they had it in their hands.

I sent them scans of the card, letting them know that the envelope, top loader, and penny sleeve were all in A+ condition, so I would have to assume that the card was damaged prior to sending off. They didnt respond any further....

Seller's ID is "jerseycardworld".

They DID respond to my email after the Negative was left... to which they said they'd refund me $50 and that they had left me a negative too.

Oh it's a fun world Ebay.

Gotta love this...

I guess some could say it's my bad for not checking out the scans TOO WELL.... but check it out...

Damaged in their auction listing.... top right corner....

This is the response I got...
"YOU MIGHT WANT TO FIX YOUR EMAIL ACCOUNT I RESPONDED TO YOUR EVERY EMAIL. AFTER I RECEIVED THE SCANS I TOLD YOU THAT THE CARD WAS NOT AS DAMAGED AS WHEN IT LEFT HERE I DONT HOW IT GOT LIKE THAT AND THAT I WOULD REFUND YOU 50 DOLLARS THATS THE BEST I COULD DO I NEVER HEARD BACK FROM YOU. TODAY I SEE YOU LEFT ME A NEGATIVE I HAVE DONE THE SAME BECAUSE I DONT SELL DAMAGED CARDS IF IT WAS DAMAGED I WOULD HAVE MENTIONED IT. AND I RESPONDED TO EVERY EMAIL YOU WROTE ME."

I need a 2nd ID...

well that sucks, i hate it when they give you a retaliation negative, the scan kinda makes the card look like 3 of the four corners are damaged or maybe its just me??

Sorry to here about the neg mate. I've got 3 negs on my ebay account and all have been retaliation negs, it sucks but thats ebay.

Personally I think you're in the wrong here Mavsman. The scan in the original auction shows the condition of the card, the listing says it's NM-M, which it appears to be, it doesn't claim it's gem mint or pristine, and you should have checked the auction listing properly before hitting the BIN. I can understand that after dropping 200 US on a card you'd want it to be perfect, but unless you're selling the card, does it really matter if one corner is a bit soft? If you get a beautiful rare card like that and choose to focus on a dodgy corner instead of the awesomeness of the card I think there's something wrong with you.

I don't agree with retaliation negs, or leaving unjustified negs for any reason for that matter, but if you left him a negative first then what do you expect? From what I can tell he fulfilled his end of the deal and you still weren't satisfied when you had no right to be, and gave him an unwarranted negative. He's gone above and beyond the call of duty refunding you $50 that he didn't need to in my opinion.

I hate to say it but im gonna agree, when I buy off ebay I ALWAYS save the scan they have provided of the card then blow it up in paint to like 800% and you can easily see any damage or whitening or chipping on corners edges....and as the card wasn't stated as gem-mint im amazed you got 50 clams back :) gj on that, bad luck on the condition.

You're missing the point. I'm happy to keep the card after all, I've been after one since I knew they existed, as for the email response offering $50 refund, that was AFTER THE NEGATIVE.

Says he sent me an email when he got my scans, but I've had ZERO response since emailing them....

I've no SPAM filtering, so there's no way it would have gotten caught up, and there's nothing on my Ebay Messages.

I've told the seller that I'm over the negative, I know that it wasnt warranted. It IS just another number after all.

Just thought I'd share with people the kind of seller this guy is.

If there was a ****ed corner in the listing, I wouldnt have hit it. I DO read the listings 100% these days, its the scans that I dont often inspect with a magnifying glass.

EDIT...

I DID NOT RECEIVE A REFUND OF ANY KIND..... HENCE MY NEGATIVE.....

If card condition is so important then perhaps you should check the scans better, that's all I can say.

Thats a shame because its such a nice card! I can see the story from both sides but you shouldn't be relied upon just to check the scans, a damaged card should be clearly stated in the auction and he really doesn't have much excuse for leaving you a neg.

I know I've recieved a few slightly damaged cards but if they're for the PC then I'm usually happy to have them as long as theyre not any worse than that one.

A truly honest seller should clearly indicate in the description if the card is damaged in anyway. I know I would. It's a shame but there's probably just as many dishonest sellers out there as there as those who look to do the right thing. I guess we all take that chance with Ebay.

Bad luck on the card Mavs:)

Thing is not everyone would consider that card damaged. A lot of cards come out of packets a lot worse than that card appears to be. Just because someone has a different set of standards as to what and what isn't damaged, doesn't make them a dishonest seller. He said the card was NM-M, which it is. If you have a read of Beckett grading guidelines I think you'd find a card with one soft corner could pass as NM, or M.

Well, it's still damage none the less and wasn't stated that it had a ding on one corner in the listing.
Here's the grading guidelines;
Near mint is a BGS7, mint is a BGS9, so there's quite a vast expanse there, however the card is in worse condition than a "near mint", so the seller clearly misrepresented the item.
Near mint (BGS7) allows for centering of 70/30 to 60/40 in addition to only ONE of these following flaws: "a slight touch of wear on 2 or 3 corners", "slightly rough edges", "minor print spots, colour or focus imperfections". I didn't read dings on corners anywhere. I know I'm getting technical, but I have had the same thing happen to me. I have bought high dollar cards for the premium price and been let down, then the seller says, "well, it was perfect when I sent it.....duh". For a card that expensive, you have to be spot on when describing condition, no excuse.

Some sellers don't list the damage on the card because they know they will get busted.

They show a scan and say "Card in great shape. Look at the scan"

Most of the time they will use a tiny scan and you can't really tell if its in "great shape"

That way when you complain about the condition they will say "Too Bad"
You should have looked at the scan properly.

Always ask the sellers the conditon even if the auction has a scan of the card!

I totally agree, It should have been included in the description, but i can see the other side as well. Hope all works out well as its still a great looking card.
