Hey guys, whats happenin ? ... So my collection Is finished. 18 cards (9 are worth money). The collecting started In 1994. When I was 5 years old. Recently, 3 years ago I sold off my entire collection. I decided that I only wanted a select number of cards to hold onto, and to not buy anything with the Intentions of selling. For the past 2 years I have been exchanging the cards I have bought. (Rather have this one, so I'll sell off this one). I had It revolve around my top favorite players. Grant Hill, Steve Nash, Kevin Garnett. I wanted this collection for me. The cards & players that I like. I didn't want to buy anything Just because of the value or to Impress anyone but myself. Which I really think each persons collection should be. So here It Is ... I'll post each card with hopefully a short description. Hope you guys enjoy.

1999SouthAfrica.jpg

I would really say this starts It off ... My favorite NBA player has always been Grant Hill. I grew up watching him. This Sprite Can actually took years to track down. But I really Just think Its pretty cool. Not too long ago I had It sitting out and It accidently got thrown In the recycling bin ... I had to go through like 5 bags of Crushed cans to find the Grant Hill Sprite Can un-crushed ! ... Too much excitement for me. lol

- - This Is the first sports card I have ever owned. In 1994, when I was 5 years old, I had given my friend a couple of un-opened packs of Power Ranger Cards (I was never Into the Power Ranger thing) Though my friend was real big Into that (nerd? yeah possibly. lol) So he had told his dad that I had given those cards to him, his dad thought It was a nice thing that I did .. So from his office In the house, he took down this Joe Montana card that he said was his favorite and said I could have It. (Was living In Kansas at the time when Joe Montana was Everybody's favorite) I remember that he said to always keep It In the top loader and never take It out. So 17 years later, I still have It. This really Is what started my love for sports, and what started my collecting. Its funny how much 1 sports card can do. If I had never gotten this card, I really doubt I would of ever collected & maybe not ever got into sports. Which Is really just a krazy thought now !

FavoriteElwayCard1997Donruss602outof5000.jpg

- - My only other Football card ... When I used to have thousands ! The Broncos have always been my favorite team. Back In the 90's they were great to watch. John Elway was the man. I got this card when I lived In Louisiana, I always loved It for some reason. The colors & everything about It. After Joe Montana retired, Elway was the guy I looked up to. So I always held onto It.

ChrisMihm2007-08.jpg

- - So the Football days are over ! I REALLY got Into Basketball & the NBA In 2004-05. I watched SOME games In 2003-04, but not that much. I saw the Pistons beat the Lakers In the 03-04 Finals, And Just never stopped watching since. Shaq was traded to Miami ... So the Lakers were obviously struggling. It was tough times for the Lakers. Rudy T came In to coach, then left shortly after. I loved that Lakers team though. Kobe, Lamar, Chris Mihm, Luke Walton, Chucky Atkins, Tierre Brown, Brian Grant, Brian Cook, Caron Butler. Hey when Shaq leaves your team, Those are some big shoes to fill ! And I really liked how Chris Mihm put In work. Besides Grant Hill, Mihm was my favorite player at the time. Hurt his foot, Kwame Brown came to the Lakers & screwed everything up, got traded to Memphis, never came back playing. Sometimes that happens.

22005-06Topps-BazookaMagnet.jpg

- - I was a 90's kid ! EVERYONE knows/knew Grant Hill. Always a classy guy. Really nice, and plays the right way. Before he hurt his ankle, mannnnn It was somethin else. 28 Tripple Doubles In 4 years ! He has ONE more career Tripple Double than Michael Jordan ... MJ has 28, Hill has 29. But I saw this card and thought It was pretty funny.

GrantHill.jpg

- - Grant Hill drinkin Sprite with his USA jersey on ! EVERY Grant Hill fan has to have that card ! I don't see how you can be a true Hill fan without It ! Had to get the bottom one showing the blocked shot and those FILA'S. The one on the right says he scored a season high 34 points vs LA on January 18th, 1997. (My birthday Is January 18th ... I saw that so I got It, I obviously missed a great game In 1997 ! lol)

1501996-97Topps.jpg

- - Thought that was a great picture on this card ... Piston days when Grant was dunking on EVERYONE !

251999-00FleerGrantHillPistonsAwayJrsy.jpg

- - So It was ALWAYS #1 on my card collection list to have a Grant Hill Pistons Away jersey card. Actually took awhile to find the right one. From that guy on ebay that has like thousands of Grant Hill cards, Im pretty sure he's on the hobby kings website; his photobucket is here ... Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket Im very happy with this one though. Just looked at his photo bucket and realized that he's the one who outbid me on like 10 Grant Hill cards !

90951999-00FleerGrantHillPistonsAwayJrsy.jpg

- - After I already had bought the first card, I saw this one and had to get It. I really thought It was going to sell alot higher than It did, so I got lucky. Sold off 3 cards from my collection for It. I love It though. Sent from Australia. I'll post the picture where the patch Is from too.

3533outof50GrantHillJrsyNumberShaqJrsyNmbrWithCavs.jpg

- - I love this card. 2009/10 # 33 out of 50 ... Grant Hill's jersey number. I loved that team. Lots of people hated on Shaq and the Suns. But as a Suns fan, I thought It was great having Shaq on the team. The Big Shaqtus ! Might be my favorite card, when I sold off all my cards, I kept this one along with the Montana & Elway.

1502009-109outof10RondosJrsyNmbr.jpg

- - I'm a big Celtics fan. Since before Rondo, Ray & KG were there. So I'm a big Rondo fan. He's a very unique Point Guard. (Just needs to get his shooting right!) The card Is 2009/10 # 9 out of 10 ... Rondo's Jersey number. I love the Reebok tag. On the back It says Its from his Rookie jersey. Every Celtics fan knows Big Baby Davis Is great. Fits In perfectly with that team. Possible Sixth Man of the Year Award this year too. I love the Adidas tag. Always been a fan of Tony Allen. Those 4 guys were also on their Championship team.

1502009-101outof1Artest.jpg

- - 2009/10 # 1/1 ... I've always really liked Ron Artest. You always need that tough krazy guy on your team. He's an entertaining guy, and has really grown up In the NBA. I can obviously see why he jumped In the crowd after a drink was thrown on him. But I like how he has grown up after that, I really think he means well. Lots of people hate on him with the Lakers too, but I love Ron on that team. I believe he pushes Kobe and the other guys to step up on defense. It was very cool how he gave away his Championship Ring too. It shows true maturity. So I really like this card. Its a very cool tag. Chance the Lakers might get the Championship again too. Even though Im praying Boston gets It !

432010-1117outof50AdidasTag.jpg

- - 2010/11 # 17 out of 50 ... M.V.Steve Is the man. 2 Time MVP. A true NBA soldier ! I've honestly never seen a better team-mate In basketball. High fives non stop the entire game, after every play. Even If the guy makes the shot or misses. His skill Is truly amazing to watch. Really deserves a Championship, but It doesn't always end that way. I don't really like how they have tags on cards out of 50. I think the number should be alot lower. 10 Is okay, but not 50. But I still really like this card, I love the adidas tag on It.

1767outof102009-10.jpg

- - 2009/10 # 7 out of 10 ... This Is a card I really don't think I would ever sell. I sold this card once before about 8 months ago. For a card that ended up being a fake. I did get my money back, but I was always wishing I hadnt sold this card. Then randomly, the guy who bought It posted It on Ebay with others he was selling off. I told him about how I wish I never sold It & he cut me a break on It. I love the card, those Cavs jersey's were always my favorite that year. I'm not the biggest Lebron fan, but you can't take that away from the skill that man has. Im tellin you, Lebron shoulda just brought M.V.Steve & Grant Hill from Phoenix to Cleveland .. That would of been a beautiful thing ! (without Mike Brown though!) I love both tags though, the Phoenix Suns tag & the Reebok. I got lucky getting It back, So It's staying now.

281332009-106outof10LebronJrsyNmbr483PageViews.jpg

- - 2009/10 # 6 out of 10 ... Lebrons Jersey number. I know when I first posted this, HairyAngryFella said the card was ruined because of the printing mistake on the right side of the card. BUT, Its my card, I like It and I see the value still fully there. Thats what matters. I really dont mind the comments and opinions though. Thats why we post the pictures of the cards we get. But anyways, I really wanted a card with a Durant tag. Saw this and really didn't think I was going to win It. Lebron & Durant ... Speaks for itself. And I've always been a big fan of Emeka Okafor & Brandon Roy was/Is very good. (obviously bad knees now) I'll post the picture next of what tags you see when you tilt the card.

Exampleof281332009-106outof10LebronJrsyNmbr483PageViews.jpg

- - Shows the tags when you tilt the card.

3382009-101outof1RookieTag.jpg

- - 2009/10 # 1/1 ... Wolves tag from KG's Rookie season. All props on this goes to GarnettFan4Life ... I saw this card when It first went on Ebay, missed out and GarnettFan4Life got It. I remember him posting It on here; I was pretty jealous. I know he obviously has beef with Panini now (which I understand and pretty much agree with) But this Is THE KG card I have been looking for. He accepted my handful of money for It & really helped out with my collection coming to an end. Ive never seen this tag on any other card before. Really don't think I'll ever be selling It.

- - So thats my full & complete collection ... I could see adding one or two cards In the future ... I still need a few of my favorite players that I havnt gotten yet. But I find myself very picky with what I buy now. Must be the old age of 22. lol ... I'm sorry If I typed too much. Just wanted to share. My card collection has never felt complete until now, So good luck to all of you with yours ! Im stepping away for the most part. With an eye open still ! Thanks for looking guys ! - Rob

Re: My 18 Card Collection Is Complete. Started In 1994. Grant Hill, Nash, Garnett etc

I reckon that sometimes its quality over quantity when it comes to collecting!

Love the Garnett Tag man card!!

Re: My 18 Card Collection Is Complete. Started In 1994. Grant Hill, Nash, Garnett etc

Love your work mate, thats what collecting is about making yourself happy and not trying to impress anyone else. I like the pic on that Hill where he's dunking.

I've got love for Ron Ron too, such a selfless human and a defensive beast.

Re: My 18 Card Collection Is Complete. Started In 1994. Grant Hill, Nash, Garnett etc

Outstanding post Rob, a great read!

Love that logoman quad, insane card, and the FTG Hill patch is a ripper - great that you showed where on the jersey it is from.

I am glad to hear there are 2 more to make it a top 20!

Re: My 18 Card Collection Is Complete. Started In 1994. Grant Hill, Nash, Garnett etc

Nice post man, the stories behind the cards are what collecting is all about! Good Montana story and some crazy tags going on there! Wonder if Jim McIlvaine has a copy of that card - jeez, that picture belongs in the basketball dictionary next to the phrase 'posterised'! Love the can story best though - trawling through 5 bags of trash is true dedication to the PC cause! I'll salute that mighty fine effort!

Re: My 18 Card Collection Is Complete. Started In 1994. Grant Hill, Nash, Garnett etc

Man they are some awesome cards, thanks for the write up on each card, was interesting :)

Re: My 18 Card Collection Is Complete. Started In 1994. Grant Hill, Nash, Garnett etc

Hey guys thanks alot ... It took quite awhile to write all of that stuff ! ... But I never really seen anyone post their finished collection on here. And all you guys I've talked to on here have always been cool, so why not. I figure this Is what the collecting Is about. Glad you all didnt sleep on all the stories ! Good luck with all your collections guys !

Re: My 18 Card Collection Is Complete. Started In 1994. Grant Hill, Nash, Garnett etc

Now that what I call passion in collecting. Collecting because they are the cards you want and not so your collection can be considered the best.
A very interesting and informative read

Re: My 18 Card Collection Is Complete. Started In 1994. Grant Hill, Nash, Garnett etc

Some beautiful cards.
Grant Hill is a rare talent indeed and well worth collecting.

Re: My 18 Card Collection Is Complete. Started In 1994. Grant Hill, Nash, Garnett etc

Great read Rob, glad I could help out. Interesting to hear the story behind peoples collecting passion. Possibly the first person I've heard say that Chris Mihm was their fav player!
Loved Grant Hill back in the day, happy to see his revival recently. I'll always have a special place for the Grant Hill RC Stadium Club First Day Issue since my brother pulled it from a pack from the first box we ever busted together, was great fun.
All the best mate

- - Thanks man ... Currently attempting to track down 2 more special cards to have a top 20, then stepping away from the game ... Top 18 Is simply unheard of ! ... My taste In cards now Is just too expensive for my own good ! ... The search continues ...

Ah yes i've seen this many times over the years, it'll be Top 25 then Top 30 then top 50 then... you get where its going :D

- - I hear you, and I'm sure that happens all the time with people ... but honestly, I highly doubt It In this case man; my pockets arn't so deep anymore. I don't buy any card unless It's going Into the 18 card collection. It's a VIP group to get Into. I'm so picky with what I buy now. I have the cards I want. I even question If 20 Is too many. I'm not the type of guy who wants a ton of cards to hold onto. Too much of a hassle for me. I'm only looking for 2 more. 2 favorite NBA guys that I don't have yet. If I don't come across them, then the collection will stay as Is. I'll post IF or WHEN these 2 are found. The time has almost come for the kid to step out of the game ! ... But I guess only time will tell.

- - Always great talking to other Grant Hill fans. Nothing but great conversations. 38 years old and playing great. 2009/10 was an excellent year for him, 2010/11 Is also very good. Really seems like he Is playing tougher this season; still very lively. Isn't getting the props like he did last year though, becuase Amare Isn't there, so they don't really talk about the Suns as much as they were last season. Struggling & pushing for that 8th spot In the West ... But yeah I totally forgot that I had the full 10 Sprite cards/Chill with Hill collection ... I don't count those as part of my 18 card collection though ! (only the 2 that I posted) ... Those cards are great; they're pretty funny. Nice Hill jersey cards are hard to come by. I only see 1 or 2 nice Hill cards come around every 4 to 5 months. Good luck with your collection man ! Build up those Hill's !
