Its a fantasy league for movies! basically your the head of a studio and you pick (ie draft) upcoming films for your studio, and you get a score based upon how well that movies do at the box office etc.
Here's the basics:
Probably most similar to Fantasy Football or Rotisserie Baseball, FantasyMoguls is very simple. Instead of being a "general manager" of a fantasy baseball "team," you are the "CEO" of a Fantasy Movie "Studio." Instead of drafting sports players, you draft movies. How well those movies do in real life categories like Box Office or Review is how well your fantasy movie studio does.
* Each league has 8 studios.
* The studios will participate in a draft, taking turns picking movies until each studio has 6 movies each on their "slate."
* Once a movie has been drafted in a league, it is no longer available. In other words, only one studio per league can own an individual movie.
* If you are playing Moguls Box Office, the studio whose slate of films make the most money in total domestic (and Canada) box office by the end of the season, wins.
* If you are playing Ultimate Moguls, the studio whose slate of films performs the best in four categories (Total Box Office, Per-Theatre-Average, IMDb.com User Review score and Weeks in the Top 5) by the end of the season, wins. More details on scoring are below.
* The first season is the HOLIDAY BLOCKBUSTER SEASON October 27th through January 30th , 2007.
I reckon it sounds like heaps of fun, and its a change from the sport leagues.
Who else would be interested guys? i know weve got many many movie lovers on here!
i used to do something similar to this, except instead of drafting movies you were able to purchase shares in movies, actors and musicians/bands
i believe it was called the hollywood stock exchange
was a bit of fun, and was an interesting way to keep up with the interesting movies being developed and produced
