Moon Landing: Hoax or Man's Greatest Achievment?

I posted this on the other forum:

I know it's old, just want to see what the majority of the OzCards members think.

I only saw the Fox thing last month and was pretty convinced.. then I stumbled across an article on the news today which reminded me of it:

I remember that China or Japan was supposed to launch a shuttle to take photos of the moon sometime this year but was delayed for some reason.

Then I saw this on the net:

After reading that website, I still think it couldve easily been a hoax. :mrgreen:

I don't care one bit... but I believe if ever man was to make it to the moon, it would be the Chinese. Just look at the Great Wall of China and Yao Ming! Or the Japanese = XBox, ps2, mobile fones, final fantasy. :dunno:

So what's your opinion? Is the moon landing fake as Mariah's boobs? Or 100% real?

If you haven't seen the show on Fox, it might be on youtube.

MAJOR EVIDENCES AGAINST IT:

1. American flag was waving on the moon.
2. No rocket engine sound to drown the radio transmissions which were crystal clear.
3. Shadows facing the wrong way.
4. Footprints being left after rocket blasted away from the moon. (shouldve been blown away)
5. Camera crosshairs behind photo subjects.
6. Radiation.

I believe its a hoax, and that is why Area 51 is so offlimits, because it was filmed there, Armstrong even made a comment that it looks like the nevada desert, Oops?! lol :lol:
 
I don't think it's a hoax.
If it was just a hoax, why wouldn't they just fake another landing? There is obviously very good reason on why they haven't gone back, maybe they just don't feel the need to, and don't feel the need to prove themselves to every sceptical person out there..

Good point Tara! Men are very stubborn and hard headed in general. Even with lots of proof, there is a lot of room for doubt/denial.

I thought it was a very good conspiracy theory though.
 
You've also got to keep in mind what was going on politically in that late 60's era. It was a time of the Space Race and the beginning of the Cold War with the USSR. It is feasible that the US would do anything, including faking the moon landings, to keep the upper hand over the Russians.

At least now we're more careful with fake autos/patches. :lol:
 
Yeah, as have been mentioned, there are several reasons to doubt the landing: flapping flag, foot-prints but no ship-prints, etc...), and because of all the one-upmanship going on at the time between the U.S and Russia, you'd have to think both sides would do anything, real or symbolic, to show up the other side. So my money's on the hoax, but don't we all love a good conspiracy? ;) hehe
 
AND the russians were winning the space race as they didn't give a shit about dudes dying!!!! I'm neutral on this but as has been said - why not visit again since.......
 
According to that website link thwarting all the hoaxer's point by point, you would conclude that it was real. The US is just one hella big conspiracy! lol. So much that goes on behind the scenes with government.

i don't have any reasoning apart from that someone proved it to me when i was in school. this was a few years ago as i'm still in school but in like year 7 or 8 there were articles on it that we were studying. i can't remeber specific facts but i do remember concluding that it was real!
 
I think its real...

I think the reason why we never went back, is because its really nothing special. Not for the trillions of dollars that need to be spent. They have turned their sights on other projects.

Can you imagine, the "uproar" that would have been made if the Russians discovered it was a hoax? A hoax of that nature would completely turn the world upside down...and make the US an even bigger laughing stock then they already are LOL
