I recently became aware of a charity called Balls4Life.com.au which is a charity that supports Mens Health in conjunction with the AFL and Cricket Australia.
For each game of AFL played, the AFL donates 1 of 6 balls used in each game to be auctioned off through the balls4life.com.au website. After each game the ball is tagged and signed by the winning team on the day.
I was fortunate enough to win the ball used in the game between the Sydney Swans and the Fremantle Dockers in Round 2 this year at the SCG. The Swans won the game and my favourite player for the Swans Josh Kennedy had 36 disposals and was best on ground. The ball also has plenty of wear and tear on it which I love!
Have to say this is probably my favourite piece of AFL memorabilia and an absolute bargain for what some of the other balls have sold for.
Here are the pics...
I think I have also matched the ball to this photo....as you can see there is a number on the end of the ball which appears to match my ball in this photo?
Check out the website www.balls4life.com.au you might be able to grab one for yourself at a good price!
That is incredibly awesome - and thanks for reminding me, I heard about the balls4life project and then forgot all about it. I reckon your ball may have the name of the 2012 Brownlow medallist at this rate!
Bloody hell, what a piece of memorabilia! Wonder what they do with the other balls from the games, trash them, give them away, use them for training. But you sir, have the only team-signed one! That's shit-hot!!
P.S thanks for the link, have to keep me eye on one of these!
