Just a few cards today. I was expecting these last week, but Australia Post decided otherwise (On a positive note for Australia Post, these cards were actually delivered to my door rather than left on top of my letterbox when they didn't all fit in. On a negative note for Australia Post, it was actually my neighbour who delivered them because she was worried about them being stolen. But I digress)
Firstly from Steve (Good_Old_BBall):
Louie Dampier UD Black ABA Autographs #ed 8/9
Bit of an unknown, Dampier was a gun point guard in the ABA for Kentucky (one of only two ABA players to play with one franchise for the entire length of the ABA) and named to 7 ABA All-Star games.
He changed his game from that of a quick shooting gunner (he set a three pointers made in a season record that lasted until 1995) to a traditional point guard setting up Artis Gilmore and Dan Issel, helping the Colonels win the 75 ABA title. He was named in the ABA All-Time Team, as one of only three PGs.
On top of all this, he played with my beloved Spurs for three years after the ABA-NBA merger.
Needless to say, he is an ABA legend and I have to thank Steve for selling me such a sweet looking card.
I also have to thank Steve for these legends freebies he chucked.

Now for some Mikans.
35th Anniversary Team #ed 30/35
A really good card in hand, the scan does it little justice.
Timeless Treasures Hall of Fame Quad Materials with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jerry West and Magic Johnson #ed 9/50
Time for another rant...
I have no idea how Panini has decided to order these players on the card... They aren't in order of their careers which would be the logical way of ordering them.
Apart from that I'm very happy with this card; obviously because its a Mikan memorabilia card but also because its got Jerry West, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson jersey pieces on it and I love my legends.
The Mikan piece of memorabilia also has some stitchings on it in the top left corner, and its also interesting to see how the jersey fabric changed from the 1950s to the late 1980s (or maybe mid 90s, because Magic looks pretty chunky in the photo).
Thanks for looking guys...
PS. One of the cards I got today (The Mikan 35th Anniversary) came in this bubble mailer... I am very grateful that someone in the US Postal Service in Arizona thought better of sending my card to Canada
Love the Dampier Matt - anyone who spent their time setting up the A-Train gets a round of applause from me!
And with the Hall of Fame card, it is blatantly obvious that the 4 Lakers stars are in some sort of order - Mikan was blind as a bat without his glasses, Jabbar had to wear his for a badly scratched cornea, West occasionally wore contact lenses while Magic has perfect 20-20 vision

The funniest thing about the ordering of the players on this card is that in the Timeless Treasures HOF Combos Materials (with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) Abdul-Jabbar is on the left and Mikan is on the right.
I'm likin' the Mikans especially the patch (because it has stitching?) but yellow card for Australia Post leaving satchels on top of your letterbox - poor form!
Personally I would have ordered them in the order they were inducted in to the HOF it being a HOF card, but 2 Cs to the left, 2 guards to the right is probably the idea that Panini had.
Yeah the second I saw that Dampier UD Black card I really wanted it. I can't thank Steve enough for not only selling it to me but for such a easy deal; I know people say this a lot but it was easily the best deal I've ever done, Steve is just so helpful and nice.
The Frazier card is a really nice card (Thanks again Steve!); the way the jersey piece has been incorporated into the card design is really good with the clean white contrasting well against the black to make the 'LF'
Yeah I was very surprised when it arrived with 'Canada' on it and even more surprised it got to me instead of Germany!

Australia Post aren't my favourite people due to this but them leaving my mail on top of the postbox works out quite well; it cuts down on their postal delivery times and it also gives the older couple who live up the front of our block of large units something to do in the afternoon when they trot down to my unit and give me my mail. Win-win.
But seriously I've asked about it at the local post office and they really couldn't have given any less of a ****. I think I'll follow the advice of Taswegian (on another thread) and ask for some complaint forms.
