Hi guys, i'll be in Melbourne from the 31st of July until the 5th of August to watch the mighty Tigers smash the Crows.

And it's my first Melbourne trip where I wont have a bunch of emotional basketball girls to coach and I can go and enjoy the sights of Melbourne.

Does Melbourne have any card shops? Ive only ever been to the one opposite the Vic Markets. Would there happen to be a card fair/show on that weekend by any chance?

Also have the Crown Casino, Smith Street, zoo, aquarium & MCG tour in my sights. Any other recommended things to do in Melbourne guys?

Thanks in advance! :v:

Hi mate,

Since Just Collectibles in Chapel Street closed down, there aren't too many good card shops. Like most others, I have always found Card Zone (the one opposite the market) to be a bit overpriced.

I visited Carnegie Collectibles recently and was disappointed with the shambolic state of the store. Won't be going back in a hurry. Gardenvale Collectibles, on the other hand, is an excellent experience but note that they only sell Scanlens and earlier cards. Still, well worth a visit to get a whiff of nostalgia. Some of the stuff they carry is amazing.

I think there are one or two other cards shops around, but someone else might have to elaborate.

As far as things to do in Melbourne, consider Federation Square for the excellent Ian Potter Centre art gallery (Australian art) and good coffee. Yep, the MCG tour is fantastic, especially the MCC museum.

There are lots of great places to eat around the Docklands precinct (out the back of the Docklands stadium) and the views of the water are quite nice. If you do get to Smith Street, also head over to Brunswick Street, which is a bit more interesting IMO.

I haven't been to the top of Eureka Tower myself, but friends who have say it's a brilliant experience. Here's a link for more info: Eureka Tower.

Enjoy your stay and go Tigers!

Cheers thanks so much for the Nightwatchman.

Yeah I have to agree with Card Zone being overpriced. Last time I was there I was after a Bryce Gibbs auto (sorry, im a Glenelg fan, not a Carlton!!!) which they wanted $150 for. Not exactly the most friendly atmosphere either.

Will definantly look at the Eureka Tower, looks awesome!

hi bud. yeh i know where theres a MAD MAD MAD MAD card shop in melbourne right now. he's only been there for a few months too. he mainly stocks coota MJ cards though, plus other really nice GU/AU cards too . his names steve, i think he goes by the username "good_old_bball" or something like that. Do u want me to give u his address, maybe u can go there and buy some bad boy cards for ur PC??:lol:

nah seriosuly now, like a couple of the boys said already, dandenon market has 1 good one, and carribean has the occasional good one too. from memory carribean markets sometimes the blokes arent there, whereas the Dandenon Market guy is always setup in the same reserved stall. i think from memory Dandy market opens 3 days a week, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. i think that was right, correct me if im wrong fellas. cheers

Um.....whats a Melway? Is that another one of those 'Victorian' sayings?

melway is like "GPS", but in a book format . i think in other states their called QLDway, ADEway,, i think. its just a street directory to look up an address or ur position. its pretty straight forward too.
