Peja Shoots Hornets To Victory In Season Opener

NEW ORLEANS, LA, Nov 5 2006 -- It took some last quarter heroics from Peja Stojakovic, but the New Orleans won the season opener at home with a scroe of 68-64 over the Orlando Magic.
Peja scored 10 of his game high 20 points in the last quarter as the hornets came from behind for the victory. Heading into the last quarter the Hornets were down by 8.
Playing a lot of the game without Chris Paul (Foul Triuble) and David West (sprained ankle, wont miss any games), the Hornets reserves came up big. The best of them being Bobby Jackson with 10 points and 5 assists. Other good players for New Orleans were Paul (in limited mins) with 11 points and 5 assists and Tyson Chandler (who played nearly the whole game before fouling out) with 4 points, 7 rebounds and a block.
Best for the magic was Jameer Nelson with 19pts and 7asts, Grant Hill with 18pts, 4rebs and 4stls. Rookie JJ Redick started for the magic on opening night and scored 14 points, while big man Dwight Howard had 7pts and 7 rebs

Hornets too strong for Lakers

NEW ORLEANS, LA, Nov 9 2006 -- The New Orleans won their 2nd straight game with a home victory of the LA Lakers. In a game the Hornets lead from start to finish, Peja Stojakovic once again top scored with 17pts, but did little else, with 0 rebs, 0 ast, 0 stl and 0 blk.
Chris Paul was the hornets best player after once again getting into early foul trouble, he finished with 10pts, 11asts, 4rebs and 2stls. Desmond Mason and David West both scored 11pts for the hornets, while Bobby Jackson added 8 from the bench. Rookie Center, Hilton Armstrong, lead the team with 7 rebounds.
Kobe Bryant, double teamed from the start, was best for the Lakers with 18 pts and 4 asts, while Smush Parker chimed in with 14pts and 9asts. Lamar Odom added 9pts and 5rebs for the lakers.

Hornets clips Hawks wings

NEW ORLEANS, LA, Nov 12 2006 -- The New Orleans hornets continued their winning streak today, with a hard fought victory over the strong finishing Atlanta Hawks. Leading by as much as 14 points during the 3rd quarter, the Hawks came back, briefly taking the lead in the final quarter, before Bobby Jackson hit a few clutch shots to help sink the hawks.
6th man, Bobby Jackson, led the hornets in scoring with 13 points off the bench, he also recorded 3 steals. Desmond Mason and Peja Stojakovic both scored 12, while 2nd year phenom Chris Paul had 11 points and 12 assists. David West was his usual consistant self with 10 points and 5 rebounds. Tyson Chandler prooved to be the defensive force the team hoped he'd be when they traded for him, having 2 points 4 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.
The hawks best player was point guard Speedy Claxton, with 22 points and 7 assists. Josh Smith had 14 points and rookie forward Shelden Williams had 8points and 8 rebounds.
