Mass Boxecution ideas thread

Hey Hey

As some of you may have seen, I had an idea to organise a mass busting event on here where we can all arrange to bust some wax on an agreed day/time.

I am discussing with some of our resident box suppliers to get some awesome one-time deals on cases/boxes/packs so that you can all place an order when you are ready, so that we all have some wax ready to go on the day.

I think it is not the best time of year to encourage everyone to spend money on cards, with Xmas and all..... so we are leaning towards a date in January for it.

In the meantime, I thought we could use this thread to discuss some of the details, ideas and suggestions you may all have?

ldeas Like:

Do we branch out to make it a Whole Site event? I know I always wander in the Basketball section, but perhaps we try to get the whole site busting, non-sport, UFC, Soccer, whatever.... all on the same day?

Do we run comps simultaneous to the busts? I was planning to have best and worst pull prizes, but is there any others?

So I need to change the event name because a play on 'Mass Execution' is not really in good taste? lol

I love the idea of a heap of people sharing their break with each other and having comps going on for the busts. It would pretty damn hectic to keep up with certain breaks.

Are you thinking 1 thread? Busting posts only or all comments? Even for each section, esp Basketball, it would be a very busy place.

Maybe Ozcards TV to give the feeling of being involved?

How could you watch the other breaks if everyone is doing it at the same time lol? Maybe schedule a few in a row!

And i hardly get to see anything other than bball, so maybe mix it up, 1 bball, folowed by NRL, AFL, etc. Might entice me to get into another sport!

This would be hectic and fun - to try n make it easier, try and get those members who live near one another to meet up and share the BUSTIMUS MAXIMUS (throwing that one out there lol)

trade days and get togethers are good fun! Sometimes seeing a card in person rather than online makes a big difference!

Got at least 20 boxes coming in a week or two prob bust most with the boy but would save some if it goes a head and not too technologically challenging (ie, video break )

I am thinking of hosting a little trade day at my place in the future.

Say I will put on a BBQ for lunch and some ball on the TV.

I was getting some grapes from the fridge...(I love grapes lol) and was thinking I wondering if we could make it work would Brett fly over and help us with supplies boxes etc?

Awesome stuff fellas!

At this stage, I am thinking that:

We will DEFINITELY go ahead with this
We will open it up to all areas of the site
We will arrange for the busts to take place on the same day, but not necessarily the same time. So we can keep up with it.
I will donate some prizes to the Best pull, the worst pull and the Best Post of the day!

And....... I did keep this quiet to begin with, but..... Mr Paparazzi and has kindly offered to be the official supplier of the event and will give a $10 discount on box purchases for this event. We can all place our orders with him between now and the date we set, then he will make sure he can get the stock in time for the bust!! Thanks Mr Pap!!

Disclaimer - The offer above will have some conditions which I will discuss with Brett before anything is set in stone, just so no one can hold him to a $10 on a $20 box because drob50 said so! haha
