got a few sets here.. i'm probably one of the biggest mars attacks fans around this neck of the woods.
I went for the 1st day issues, think i cleaned out every loose pack that was left in them days.
my bestest card is a psa8 of the checklist from the original series.
I have a fascination for checklists too so that one was essential but haven't gone for any other original cards, just too much
for decent condition cards.
but yeah, i do have '94 sets $30 and a 1st day set $400
also there's the super winner redemption card and the zina auto but i don't have spare.
hell yeh thatd be rare as! i actually didnt know there was an older set, were the 94 ones like a reprint of the 60s series or totally new set? cant wait to get my hands on them!
The movie was actually based on the Topps cards from the 60s. I am not sure if the 90s ones are a reprint or if they are a set from the movie. There is a 60s set available on ebay for $450 BIN. Not too bad considering.
yeh the ones im after have that comic book look to them and im fairly sure were out before the movie, so they might be a reprint of the 60s series as they have that look to them! ill post up some pics if the inserts soon!
a good '62 set goes for about $10,000 and up from there if there graded very high, key cards in the series are
almost impossible to find sharp and centred.
there was a reprint set brought out in the 80's, even a spanish set.
the '94 set is also a reprint of the original set of 55 cards plus the 13 cards that were banned in the 60's, it caused an uproar at the time as the images were too gruesome for that time, it's a 100 card set.
Zina Saunders did the '94 set artwork for the rest of the cards, her dad was the original mars attacks artist,
so was quite nice that topps gave her the project.
so yeah, the first 55 cards in the 94 set are exactly the same.
there was a movie set aswell that came out when the movie did, but it's a wide vision set and nothing like original.
yeah Tim Burton rocked up to a hobby shop one day and saw the cards on display, he loved the pictures and decided to turn the series into a movie, it was the first and only movie based on a card set, not the other way round as it always is.
the $450 BIN set is great if you just want an original set but the cards are very poor, a different kettle of fish altogether.

I also have the reprint sets which is actually a 56 card set, #56 is the wrapper card.
$20 with a '94 set
yeah but they all got killed when mars attacked 'cos the martians first thought garbage bins were the enemy.
then post boxes and telephone booths until they realised humans were really the enemy...
