Lou Vincent Match Fixing

Has anyone been keeping an eye on this at all? Lou Vincent came out and admitted that he was involved in match fixing in the ICL league. What intrigues me even more is that he refers to the person that got him involved in this was a 'hero' of his, could it really be one of his country men? Could Chris Cairns possibly be involved?

I can understand why cricketers other than say Australia and England have to get in to this. They don't get paid a lot and the Aussies and Poms want for nothing…absolutely nothing.

Reminds me of the 1996/97 WI tour of Australia. People wondering why they were playing so poorly. They were sponsored by KFC, and being paid hard currency. As part of the sponsorship arrangement, KFC gave the WI squad freebie vouchers. So they were banking the hard currency and living off KFC for three months - lunch and dinner. Imagine being a top sportsperson and trying to compete with a gut full of KFC. Imagine doing that for 3 months…urgh!!!

So whilst it is sad, ICC needs to look at how these players are paid.

I would hope cairns is not involved but every thing seems to point to him,
His old man would be devesated,some of you older members(like me)would remember lance cairns

It is a very sad state of affairs, although cricket needs to weed out the likes of Salim Malik, Hansie Cronje, Muhammad Azharuddin and Salman Butt - captains-turned-match fixers or spot-fixers - and ensure that they never return to the cricket field at any level.

T20 cricket is a cesspool of corruption due to the obscene amounts of money available in events such as the IPL and when you consider the "hit and miss" nature of the game, it would be very easy to engage in spot-fixing or even match-fixing and avoid detection. For example, a player can be bought at auction for $700,000 to play in the IPL. He could then be offered $50,000 by a book-maker to be dismissed for under ten, or to bowl a no-ball or wide off the first ball of the match. So Old Mate has a great tournament over all.....and no-one remembers that one isolated incident.
