Story behind new Warrior kit

http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/story-behind-new-warrior-kit

Liverpool's new Warrior home kit hit the shelves at the end of last week as fans rushed out to get their hands on the most eagerly-anticipated strip of recent times.
And to gain an insight into the thinking behind the design and the production of our new strip, Liverpoolfc.tv spoke to Warrior's Head of Product Marketing, Kenny McCallum, who gave us a detailed guide.
In the video, which you can watch now for FREE by clicking the link below, Kenny explains how the kit takes its inspiration from 'modern tradition'
He outlines how designers looked at aspects of Liverpool's history and tried to fuse these with the Warrior aims, which is to instil 'confidence, dominance and intimidation'.
One of the themes Warrior focused on particularly when designing the strip was the Liverpool crest; however, they drew inspiration from the kits of old when dealing with other details such as collar finishes.
Away from the visual side of the design, Kenny told us how War-Tech, Warrior's own cutting-edge kit technology, will aid the Liverpool player's ability to perform.
"To get involved with Liverpool Football Club is brilliant," said Kenny. "Our whole business, from our headquarters in Detroit to our offices in the UK, is absolutely delighted and excited."

I have a really good feeling we will have a good season even though we have been non existent in the transfer market. I think Carroll and Downing will both have good seasons. Will be good have Lucas back from injury. I'm interested to see what will happen with Joe Cole and Alberto Aquilani.

I think your right with Carrol & Downing... At this stage both Cole & Aquilani are both coming back, will be interesting to see who we buy as we still need a few players...

Liverpools first signing...
Fabio Boroni
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/3...ransfer-news-fabio-borini-brendan-rodgers.htm

Liverpool's newest recruit, Italian striker Fabio Borini, will wear the No 29 jersey for the Reds next season. The forward completed his move from Roma to the Premier League on Friday, after the Anfield club confirmed agreeing personal terms and the player passed a medical.

The 21 year old, who scored 10 goals in 26 appearances for the Giallorossi last season, has signed a long-term deal for an undisclosed fee to become new Reds boss Brendan Rodgers' first signing since he took charge at the Merseyside club last month. The club revealed Borini specifically asked for the No 29 shirt as it was his lucky number. The Italian, who has never worn that jersey number before, as it has never been available, said was excited about his Liverpool future.
"It's a top club that has won a lot of trophies in the past - and will do so in the future we hope as well. I've got the trust of the manager and the club, which for me is very nice and I'm proud to be here. It will be amazing. I know the fans are very warm and they're here for football. I hope to achieve the maximum I can, by scoring goals, getting into the Champions League and all of the things the club also wants - and all the other players," ESPN quoted Borini as saying.

The Reds were linked strongly to the forward in recent weeks and the transfer was widely expected. Borini has worked with Rodgers previously - during his time at Chelsea and also during a loan spell with Swansea City in early 2011. The youngster was particularly impressive in his latter spell, scoring six times in nine games. Borini admitted an opportunity to reunite with Rodgers played an important part in his decision to move to Liverpool.
"He was very important. I wouldn't say it was the key, but most of it came from him. Even during last season, I spoke with him a lot. I'd text him and ask if he was okay and congratulated him on the results he got with Swansea. I used to play 4-3-3 with him and he is very good to play football for. It is great to play football for him because you can have fun and you can get results. I could see at Swansea the people loved him because the football was attractive," the Daily Mail quoted the Italy international as explaining.
Meanwhile, Rodgers expressed his admiration for Borini and stated the Anfield faithful would love the Italian as he was a versatile player and could be a crucial part of the club's future.
"Fabio fits the model of what we're trying to do in building not only for now, but also for the future. He's a big talent, 21 years of age, he scores goals, and his passion, focus and concentration is a very important part of his game - and a big part of what you want from a player. I think the supporters will love him. He's a multi-functional player who can play in a number of positions and someone I believe has got great growth," Sky Sports quoted the 39 year old as saying.

Only hours after speculation over Argentine midfielder Maxi Rodriguez's future resurfaced, both the club and player have now confirmed his exit.

The news was revealed on the official website Liverpoolfc.com in a short statement which began: "Liverpool Football Club can today confirm that Maxi Rodriguez has joined Newell's Old Boys in Argentina."

The four paragraph article concluded: "Everyone at Liverpool FC would like to thank Maxi for his contribution to the club and wish him all the best for the future."

The popular 31-year-old returns home to his native South America after 2 and a half years on Merseyside.

As a way of saying thanks and goodbye to fans the former Atletico Madrid star penned an emotional open letter in which he said he was departing with 'a suitcase full of great memories'.

The letter in full reads: "Before signing for LFC, I just saw the club as one of the greatest institutions in football. After my time here I can confirm that this is not just a great club but also a great family.

"I have tried to give everything every day that I was wearing the LFC crest. It has been a great honour to defend this shirt during two and a half years. I am returning home with a suitcase full of great memories, good friends within the team and also within this great family that works every day in the club. Thanks a lot for your support. You can NOT imagine what a great honour it was for me when the Kop sang, 'Maxi, Maxi Rodríguez runs down the wing for me da da da da dada...

''Hasta la vista, Maxi."

Earlier in the day quotes from Reds boss Brendan Rodgers speculated at how the Maxi situation would play out.

"If a player like him wanted to leave, it would not be because of the club. Sometimes it is just personal issues. I have had a couple of really good conversations with him. I know his thoughts and how he is thinking. It was a difficult season for him. He probably felt that he should have played more,' analysed Rodgers.

"We will hopefully see where he is at over the next couple of weeks and find a solution for him."

Alas that solution transpires to be a quick parting of the ways.

Vital Verdict
We are dissapointed to see Maxi go. He's a talented player who could have fitted in well with Rodgers' new era and tactical approach. However it has been clear the player has been considering his situation for some time and the decision comes as little surprise. All the best in the rest of your career Maxi.

Sad to see Maxi go. Andy Carroll's name has been thrown around for a possible loan stint (Villa, West Ham & AC Milan clubs that are interested). Bellamy possibly to Cardiff City and Rodgers seems keen on Clint Dempsey.
