XBOX 360 LIVE MEMBERS word is the demo is online...

Lets get talking is it any good... my 360 is getting fixed.... so let me know!

One of the new features is hotspots... where you can press a certain button (Probably L3 or R3 equivilent on PS2/PS3) and it brings up colours on the court to show you where a player is hot from... whetehr that makes gameplay more interesting hard to tell... they've also sped up the trade screen in Dynasty - trades happen there and then instead of waiting a day or two for the negotiation process to continue.

As much as it was a pain, I actually liked the trades, having to wait.

Not sure I like the hotspot idea, sounds like NBA Jam...

Why can't they concentrate on making gameplay better, cleaning up all the glitches (like the one I saw of Kobe dunking from inside the ring out (instead of the ball going thru the hoop the normal way, it was the opposite).

Just little itty bits like that.

They are putting lots of work into next gen games - but current gen systems will still pretty much suck....

yeaaah true that.

i also enjoyed waiting for the trades, it's much more realistic!!

and when a big deal goes through and you read about it, your like YEAAAH!

Always been a "Live"-man ... the 2K* series are OK, but I've never really gotten into 'em. Always found the visuals to be better on Live. My only complaint is it is a little too fast to be realistic. On the most difficult setting, I cut the quarter length to ten minutes and still end up scoring 135ppg. That's my only real gripe, though.

lol true that.

i don't think it's unrealistic speed-wise, the only unrealistic thing is the user. ie - the computer usually uses up at least 15 seconds of the shotclock, whereas i barely ever get to the 10 countdown, i think it's just our impatience because we know if we throw the ball to someone they can get it done in 5 seconds.

ps - i can get 135 on balanced scoring (using 10 players, all significant minutes) in 7 minute quarters.

Alright so ive played the DEMO and my first impression wasnt the best... but after getting used to it its not toooooo bad.... only gives you half a game so cant really say much about it right now but ill give it a go when it comes out....

Any questions fire away

Matty, I usually use 5 minute quarters.

Makes a more realistic game IMO. Your stars tire enough to sit the correct % of what they would in the real world.

You can put up 30ppg for your main star (Dirk in my case), and have your rebounders pull 8 boards a game.

I've only just started yesty, and have only played 3 games.

Dirk and J-Ho are my leaders, with Jet closely behind.

First game I won by 30+ had to check it was HOF setting, yep, it was. Floggin!

2nd game against Kings, lost by 8. Today, got flogged by Grizzlies. OUCH.

But after playing Live 07, and then 2K7, Live is no competition IMO.

Can only imagine what the "8" series' may bring.

There was a story on one of the sports channels here in Toronto about Live '08. The gameplay graphics and realism is quite a step up I must say! I think that's because of the new platform in the PS3. Check out the gameplay on Youtube, there's a stack of demo footage up already.

I just watched some of the flash vids on the ea website, seems they have vastly improved frame rates for gameplay making it a lot more smooth. Also fixing up the '07 glitches dunking through the backboard etc. They have also made it so you can break out of a move using the analogue stick (PS) where you couldn't in '07. So you can counter half way through a crossover or something like that. Alot more realistic player movements and moves/signature shots. They had alot of players come in for that especially. It really looks like a vast improvement from what I have seen in gameplay alone. There's been huge hype surrounding the NFL live release in the States the past few weeks which followed a similar pattern of improvement. I'm thinking this will be unreal.
The 'hotspots' are based on position on the court. For example, Bruce Bowen will shoot lower percentages in his not so hot spots on court, but when he is at the 3 point line close to the corners, he has the ability to heat up.
Will keep watching and update if I find more good stuff.

Menus look a lot better too. Much better interface for news etc in Dynasty mode, like AJ said. Simulated games are set up much like live games on NBA.com, with each major event listed during simulation and the ability to intervene at anytime. Box Score on top etc.

Great example by using Bruce Bowen!

I wouldn't actually mind that, because it would be more like real life, you can pick your spots and show where the players actually can hit more in real life.

However, I hope they don't distinguish this by putting coloured spots or whatever in the gameplay, that would look very SEGA-ish.

It actually looks alright.... Lights up the half court and shows the red zone (hot spots) huge variety of hot spots 2 as in Drew Gooden is pretty blue all over while Lebron had a few hot spots! Donyell was a corner 3 person so its pretty on point!

Its actually looking pretty good and Im a 2k8 guy so im hoping they both produce the goods!

haha well i'm still playing NBA LIVE 06 on my flatscreen computer, the graphics are so substantial for me that i've never felt the need to upgrade when i can upgrade rosters over the net, but yeahh!
