Couldn't believe my eyes when I read this...
Leaf don't do NBA uniforms do they?
So for collectors of lillard will this turn you off getting his auto cards or make no difference at all?
Only Panini have the NBA license, but apparently Leaf have the exclusive signing rights of Lillard, so it's a catch 22. Leaf has him in the Weber state uniform.
The prices of Leaf prior to certfied and prizm were going nuts, but are cooling considerably over the last 2 weeks. But all of that may change in time, and swing back in favour of the signed cards.
I personally think it will be a balance of the two, everyone wants to see him in official TBlazers gear, but they also want his autographs from his rookie year.
In time Panini may get his signature, which means the Leaf market will have its bottom drop out. If they dont however, Leaf stays strong.
And all of this is based on if he continues to be the frontrunner for the ROTY award.
If memory serves me correctly from what I've read, lillard is only exclusive for non nba stuff? So no upper deck.
But I'm pretty sure he can still sign for panini... Anyone else that knows otherwise, feel free to correct me if that's incorrect..

Ah I c, so as long as no NBA logo there safe? Those cards still look nice
What would a player score $$ wise out of these deals? especially an exclusive one
I know Panini were chasing him as they did want him for upcoming products including National Treasures but he is now exclusively with Leaf. I would say $50-100k maybe a little more.
I have a couple of his leaf autos and think his prices will rise again after dropping recently.
I agree Mr P, now that I've read about the new contract with Leaf.
I personally want to see Leaf come up, and it is fantastic to see some extra healthy competition in the cardboard world. It is better for us too as it gives us more options.
It's pretty ironic (and funny too) that in the Limited we have that acetate RC in the shape of the ROY trophy, with the on-card autos, but Lillard isn't there
But that's still assuming he takes out ROY, still a long season to go.

I am not sold on Leaf's brand of cards, while they look ok I still have that concern that they will end up like the Classic or Press Pass cards so I am not prepared to shell out big dollars for unlicensed stuff.
I am absolutely shocked that Leaf are able to offer exclusive signing rights considering they dont even hold an NBA license. How stupid is it that Panini are bringing out their long awaited 100 rookies in most products, and yet it is pretty likely (at this stage) that they wont end up having the signature of the guy who is likely gonna win ROY.
For me personally I hate that this is the case, as I love to collect Rookie Auto sets, so this years sets are going to have a massive "whole" in them, being that they are missing one of (if not THE) best rookies from this years crop.
