LET'S TAKE IT BACK TO 2015!!! Let's start showing off our collections!

Just thinking about this forum and how it was pumping back in the day. I couldn't keep my eyes off it and would be jumping on here more than I would on Facebook or Instagram. Another thing about 2015 was most people would be managing their collection digitally through Photobucket or in my case, Wix.com.

Throughout the COVID hype period I was building a trading card website called MERQARY.com. It hasn't taken off as quickly as we thought which is probably due to it releasing as the market crumpled but that's ok. The site is up and running and has the ability to upload your collection digitally.

One of the other features we have is we upload all of the checklist data into the website. This means you will not only see the cards you have but also the cards you still need!

So let's take this back to 2015 when collectors took pride in their collection and would like to show them off.

Now down to what I can offer as the owner of the website. I am going to provide FREE membership to members of OZCT to The Collector level on MERQARY.com for 12 months. This way we can have people showing off their PERSONAL COLLECTION all in a central location. You can also share your collection with other members by just sending them your link and be able to sell your cards on the marketplace!

For full transparency, at this level of membership there will be a 5% sales commission plus a payment gateway fee (2.6% + $0.30) on sales. The site has costs to keep it live (which are coming out of my pocket) but at least you're not being charged unless you sell something! Also, if you are accepting this free membership offer, you are not eligible for the Kobe Bryant Autograph giveaway.

All you need to do is drop your MERQARY member name below and I will increase your membership level as soon as I can (I need to be in front of the computer to do it).

Let's spread the word, let's get this hobby community back to the way it was in 2015!

I like what I’ve seen so far in trying out the site - I’d encourage everyone to give it a go - who doesn’t love seeing other peoples stuff!

I’ve tried uploading a few cards to the vault and I’m definitely going to be adding more soon! I’ve got to get everything out and add to new storage boxes I got today and take some new pics so I’m going to do it all in one go - should be fun 🤩

Love this!

I mean everything I tried to build in the website was from what I call the golden years where it was all about filling gaps not only in your PC but also others! I can't remember how many times I've shipped off cards to members because they needed them for their PC. If you don't have your list of cards online for everyone to view, how do we know what you have and what you need??

The other thing with this website, if you buy on the marketplace, the physical card will be shipped to you by the seller but the digital card will also be transferred to your collection. We are trying to save you time and money! (I know you know this GF4L but am explaining it again to others who may not know).

Some tips for first time MERQARY users:

1. When you upload a card into your Trophy Room, make sure you take photos of the front and back of the card. If the front and back images aren't uploaded, they remain in DRAFT format and no one else can see them.

2. Make sure you add the location of the card when you are editing the card details. This will make it super easy to add to the marketplace should you wish to sell the card in the future.

3. When you sell a card on the marketplace, the funds are held by MERQARY until the buyer marks the package as received OR 14 days passes. This is a way to protect buyers from dodgy sellers.

4. We have made this a paid platform so we don't charge you extraordinary sales commission PLUS we don't need to run ads which means we are not selling your information to advertisers.

5. When you use the 'Browse Cards' page and can't find the card you want to add to your Trophy Room, it is probably because we haven't yet added that checklist to our database. Just send me a picture of the card you want to add, and I will source, score and upload the checklist for you!

6. If you are buying on the marketplace, you need to understand that if you select untracked postage, you are taking the risk in the item being delivered. If you select tracked postage then it is the sellers responsibility for the item throughout the postage process. As a buyer, you are the one who makes the decision on whether you want to save some cash and take the risk or pay a little more to pass that risk over to the seller.

Finally, we are actually charged by the payment gateway (Stripe) for you to be a seller on the site. This is on top of the running costs for the website. All we ask for this free offer is that you first use the site then tell all your friends about it so we can all as a community can turn this into a thriving community.

Liking what I'm seeing so far :)
Sweet!!

I’m just out doing some Xmas shopping but will add your account to the Collector level when I get home. I’ll let you know once it’s done!

You can add 150 cards now on the free account.

Just added you to The Collector membership level.

Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions!
Awesome - thanks mate!

Two things (I may just not have figured out yet ;))

1. Is there a way to add cards to Trophy Room from within Trophy Room itself?
2. Is there a way to edit the year/set of cards once you've added them to Trophy Room? Or you have to delete and add them again?

1. Currently no. We know it's a little clunky currently but it's all a works in progress! It is a feature on our to-do list.

2. Same again, not possible. Because we upload all cards via an excel spreadsheet, each card has its own row with attributes recorded against each. So even though it sounds simple, it can't actually be done. What we will do is have an 'Edit Card Description' button which will essentially allow you to search through the checklist database to find the correct card. This is still some time off as we need to prove the site is what the market wants before we can build new things. In the mean time, you will need to delete and re-add the card to your Trophy Room.

Thanks for the clarification!

I definitely need to spend more time on there!

Username is Hornso. Thanks for the offer. I'll endeavour to spend more time on your website as opposed to others :)
Sweet!

I'll jump onto it now and add the free subscription. Check it out in 10 minutes and you should be good to go!

Thanks very much. I spent some time yesterday scanning in my MCAP. Always a good excuse to drag the cards out and admire them again.

A couple of questions:
  1. Is there a capability to add a friend or watch somebodies profile? It would be cool to be able to follow all the other OZCTers
  2. I found a couple of specific cards that weren't searchable. Is there anyway I can add these? One was a base variant (you had all the other variants) and the other wasn't there.
Really enjoying it at the moment, so thanks again.

Glad you're enjoying it!!

I did notice your MCAP and watched it increase as you added more.

To answer your questions:

1. Not yet but it is a feature we have requested to be built. Currently searching for a member by username is not possible either.

2. Shoot me a PM with the cards you can't find and I will add them to the database. I find that the manufacturers do not add all of the cards when they release checklists which means we miss adding them too. We just need members to help us in finding holes in our card database.

The size of the project means that it is going to constantly be evolving and getting better. The quicker we can get members to join and use the site, the quicker we can build new and exciting features (an app would be amazing!!!).

Something else to keep your eye on is your rank.

To give you and idea of how this works:

I score each and every card based on the card attributes.

Base - 1 point
Insert - 2 points
Jersey Card - 4 points
Patch Card - 5 points (note that this is only 1 more than a jersey because 999 times out of 1000 a patch card is also numbered which means it will achieve a higher overall score)
Autograph - 12 points
Rookie - 5 points
Short Print Cards (print run of 51 or more) - 3 points
Super Short Printed Cards (print run between 11 and 50) - 8 points
Super Super Short Printed Cards (print run between 2 and 10) - 15 points
1/1 - 25 points
Logoman - 100 points

So if you had a genuine RPA numbered to 99 it would receive:
- 5 points for the patch
- 12 points for the autograph
- 5 points for being a rookie card
- 3 points for having a print run of 99

This gives an overall score of 25 points for that card.

There are some cards which will not get a card score based on its rarity (think case cards without a print run which will just be 2 points as an insert) but for the most part this works.

What it also does is means you can score your collection against any other collection in the world and it doesn't really matter how much money you've got to throw at it. Your Admiral Schofield RPA is worth the same amount of points as a Luka Doncic RPA. Just levels the playing field.

Hope this gives you an insight into one of the little known features of the website that just gives us a point of difference when compared to the likes of eBay, Beckett and COMC.

I'll be releasing another leaderboard around Xmas so this gives you plenty of time to scan/photograph your collection (make sure it's front and back of the card) so you can be featured in the TOP 10!

Always happy to answer any questions!
