Lebron not awarded finals MVP?

Hey all, just like to seek some thoughts on the Finals MVP decision...

I'm shaking my head in comparing Lebrons series to Iggy -

Lebron per game - 36 points / 13 rebounds / 9 assists
Iggy per game - 16 points / 6 rebounds / 4 assists
Curry per game - 26 points / 5 rebounds / 6 assists

Yes GSW won but I'm a bit jaded that one of the greatest finals performances in league history went ignored.
Thats NBA Jam averages right there! Is it anti-Lebron media? How did Curry not even get a vote?

This from NBA.com - Only once in the history of the NBA has the NBA Finals MVP come from the team that lost the NBA Finals (Jerry West in 1969). If the Cavs lose these Finals, LeBron James should still become the second player to be acclaimed even in losing. LeBron James finished Game 5 with 40 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists, his second triple-double in five Finals games this postseason, even in a losing effort for the Cavs. No player in this series has meant as much to his team, night after night, play after play, as LeBron James has meant to the Cavaliers, even in a losing effort. Even if Golden State wins this series, LeBron James has been the most valuable player.

Unfortunately, if they're going to award the Finals MVP for these reasons, Westbrook should've won the regular season MVP. It's not all about putting up stats.

I disagree. I don't think Westbrook should have even been top 3. He played lights out and had some monster stats, but what impact did he have first half of the season?

I think iggy's impact was a noticeable impact,
More noticeable than lbj's efforts.

I think that had to do with adjusting to having/not-having KD. Once Westbrook got in the swing of things, he was playing exactly how Lebron did in this series; toying with triple doubles, and shooting just about everything.

Absolutely - however I keep my stance that you don't get an MVP award for half a season. Top 5, yes. Top 3, no.

Props to Iggy, he was a pleasant surprise hero off the bench and a major bonus for GSW

Maybe everyone expects Lebron and Curry to get big numbers therefore take them for granted

I wonder...if Delly had averaged Lebrons numbers over the series, everyone would of been wow! look at his kid and his ridiculous stats
compared to oh-ho-hum Lebron just about averaging a trip dub in the finals, thats just what he does

Id love to chat to Iggy about it, anyone have his mobile?

yes I still cant believe it, absolutely crazy. LBJ easily the mvp in the finals hes the only reason cavs won 2 games, take iggy off GSW and they still win the series....

In my Opinion Iggy was the Most Valuable Player in the Finals at least for GSW and he deserved it. Without Iggy I don't know if they would have won, he really played some great Defense, hell lebron probably would have averaged a triple double with 40+ points, maybe 50 if he didn't play and it was his big game 4 that started the three game streak to win it and come back from 2-1.

LBJ did play amazing but put up a hell of a lot of shots, some people had a go at Westbrook for the amount of shots he put up over his crazy run in the last half of the season.

the standard had become that the winning team has the finals mvp. given that, it was curry who was the focal point of the cavs' defense, and the one scoring most of the points and assists on the warriors' end. even if iguodala was great for a few stretches, curry was still carrying the dubs on his back.

i was rooting for the cavs, and lebron got my vote, but yeah @araiee, i share your sentiments exactly.

I think Curry's struggles through the forest few games really turned the voters off him,and I think Lebron's "poor" shooting (opinion only) made Iggy look great. If Steph didn't struggle initially, he would have won hands down.

How can you simply say Warriors would have won without Iggy??

What are you basing it on? The Overtime win in Game 1? Or the losses in Game 2&3?

Push Iggy into 35+ minutes and they start winning. Not a coincidence folks!!!!
