this statement was made famous by isiah, who said it after a game 7 defeat at the hands of larry (1986 or 87?). rodman backed him up at the time. later that week, both backpedaled, saying it was a joke that the reporter didnt get.
its a ridiculous statement. bird proved time and again that his skills deserved the hype.
back on topic; many of the greats list bird as the greatest trash talker ever. his ability to get into player's heads could shave 20 points off any team total.

It was actually Rodman that made this comment and I. Thomas laughed and agreed.

At the end of the day Jordan and Magic put Bird amongst the greatest of all time, surely that's enough right there.
