Now its no secret every rider hates this guys guts. I highly doubt the best cyclist in the world (Contador) will take a back seat to this guy let alone Levi and the rest of the Astana team.

And the rumour mill is working overdrive on the cycling underground. Not in the mainstream media as Armstrong sues everyone that says anything bad about him.

But I'll post this. Seems the talk is of a secret two year ban Armstrong had to take. That time is just up and low and behold he makes a return. The UCI and ADO would of realised what damage a positive test result for Lance would of done to the sport and its sponsors and public perception. Some deal was made to keep it hush hush no matter how bad the French would love to burn the guy.

A few years ago I had a mate race in the Aussie titles for mountain bikes. He got 5th. Later on when he got his cert it read 4th. He questioned it and he was told "No you got 4th " Seems the winner was a past champ and unstopable. He tested positive and they swept it all under the rug and bumped everyone up the rankings.

So it has been done before and on an elite level.

Why can't sports stars retire when they should???

Lance says its about charity but when he is racing its all about him

Ooo very interesting read Chad Wow if it's true! I'll be honest, I know nothing about Lance other than he had cancer, he won...7? Tour De France's and he had a cameo in 'Dodgeball' But man if that is true!

I read his book and in a sport where doping is a massive issue there wasn't one mention of it in the whole book.....wonder why not.....

It originally came out in 2007 after he won the Tour de France, some leading German anti doping expert claimed to have written proof that Contador was a sham........try Googling Contador's+doping and you'll find the allegations etc.

The other meds he had were on perscription. Even cyclists get sick.

At the end of the day he has raised over $500 million from his Livestrong charity that goes to Cancer research.

If the outcome of his doping is that we get closer to a cure for cancer then who am i to shake my fist and pretend to be outraged.

What example does he set though? It's ok to cheat as long as you can raise substantial amounts to a worthy cause, regardless it's a shame as he has done a fair bit for charity.

Has doping always been in the inner circles of cycling? I've only become aware of it in the late 90's.........

Yeah to me the good far outweighs the bad.

At the end of the day he was just the best cheat out of a group of cheats.

No one even gave a shit about this sport until Lance came along so when you add that to the charity work on some level I have to think that someone just has an axe to grind here.

Your idea that no one gave a crap about the sport is not true...perhaps you didn't. U didn't hear about Miguel Indurain? Greg Lemond? They were world famous to even a non cycling fan like me...the Tour De France is the pinacle of cycling and was followed around the world well before Armstrong came around.

Another thing , Lance Armstrong has been one of the most libellous people on earth, constantly threatening to sue people left, right and centre. He's been a complete a-hole for years and today, after demanding the names, evidence etc it's all there for everyone to see....

I will repeat - no one gave a shit about this sport Alistair. Sure people have heard of Greg Lamond but the TV coverage and current popularity of the sport are as a result of Armstrong. You cant argue that fact even if the Armstrong is a complete fraud and cheat.

At the end of the day the good far out weighs the bad here - over half a billion raised to fight cancer. Go visit a cancer ward and tell me otherwise.

There are not many guys that reach the pinnacle of their sport that are not a-holes. Case in point is your man KG.

No one gave a shit about cycling? Can u speak for everyone?? Or just yourself, your mates, town, media in your area. How the hell would u know what coverage cycling was getting anywhere else back in the days of Indurain, Lemond?

I agree with the idea that he's done more good than evil - there's no doubt on that front, but there are too many people rocking up saying - forget the lies, blatant cheating, etc - the man is golden and that's bollocks..

As for KG - asshole on the court - yep, for his opponents... what's he done off the court in a 17 year career to make u think he's an asshole?

Yes - why do you think we are the only ones in here talking about it. On the pecking order of world sports cycling aint really up there.

And your right the guy is a fraud but its a sport where everyone at that level is a fraud!! All you saw today was just media generated fist shaking at its best.

And you took my KG comment out of context. Being an ahole when your at the elite level of your sport is not a bad thing - but its pretty common. Look at Jordan and Woods for example. They are assholes but no one doubts they are winners.
