Yeah I would have preferred Phil, but any of the candidates are a huge improvement over Brown. D'Antoni is familiar with Nash and will allow him to run the offense and make decisions - this is why we traded for him in the first place. I didn't like the idea of having Phil as a coach and missing an unknown amount of road games either.
Showtime is back! And this is a perfect fit with Nash running the floor. I was gunning for Brian Shaw over Phil (health issues, and now it comes out that he wanted mega $$), but I'll enjoy seeing this team play in a run and gun system.
TRue, D'Antoni hasn't won any championships, but neither had any of the others on the list of prospects (outside of Jackson). I think it's a move that is better suited for most of the Lakers and might even see Antawn Jamison replace Ron Artest as a starter and give them a legitimate swing player who can still score.
dont like it...look what he did with the talent he had in new york! kobe and nash dont have the legs to play a whole season of run and gun either!!! phil is the zen master for a reason!!!! anyway should be interesting and hope that im wrong and the kobe gets number 6 this year!!!!
I guess I can kind of understand the decision, but I don't feel it's the best one. I'd prefer to see the Zen Master back on the throne, but I can understand with his health problems that it's not a viable option for the franchise. That being said, I'd have preferred Shaw take over as he was my original thought when Phil originally left.
