Kyrie Irving Prices - I don't get it???

Can anyone shed some light on the prices of Irving autos? What I mean is:

Threads ON CARD auto:

I get this one selling a little lower, because it isn't exactly a RC because it is a subset, also, being a redemption.

But why is the Hoops auto selling for $225+??

I understand that it is the first release, but it is a sticker auto which are normally condemned by collectors. Also, if it is about it being the 'true RC', then why are the Rookie Impact auto selling so damn high? They are a subset!!

Furthermore, Prestige. Why are the Prestige STICKER autos selling for $50 higher than the threads ON CARD autos??

I don't get this hobby sometime!

Im just speaking from what iv seen over the years, but it seems that when a player starts to play a few good games people start to pay well over price for a card just for the fact that the players form could continue and the card could be worth more in a few years. It happened with Westbrook and Love when they had their breakout seasons and unfortunately will probably continue to happen, watch Damien Lillards cards spike in price soon.

I get that! But the above prices are all at the same time!

Even on forums, people are asking $180 for a Prestige auto and $140 for a Threads auto!

Supply & Demand are a factor. Irving and Lillard don't have many autos, add the fact they are both playing like seasoned veterans, won't be long before we see Derrick Rose prices for both.

Nothing in basketball card collecting makes absolute sense. Just saw a couple of auto of the latest exquisite selling for less than $5. That is 6 cards coming out from a $900 box.

I guess people must see the cards sold for that price else where and automatically think it must be worth that much, it is annoying when your trying to collect a particular player and then a bandwagon starts and card prices go through the roof.

To be honest, if I was going to pick up an Irving auto, it'd definitely be the threads, such a nice design!

I agree thought the Team Threads Diecuts would be more, than the Woods and Prestige followed after. You would think Hoops would be $100-130 then being a cheaper product.

I dont understand it either soon, hobby surprises me every day if it aint a collector that trips me out its the prices some cards are/become overnight

Could it just be that the Hoops auto is harder to find? Threads and Prestige are stacked with RC autos so the chances of getting one would surely be much better then Hoops.. I've opened a couple of boxes of Hoops and not hit 1 RC auto in any of them..

I guess it could be that, but if you look at the amount of autos on eBay there doesn't appear to be a shortage of the Prestige.

Hoops I think is a little more understandable, being the first release, but Prestige? I would have thought that would be less than Threads??

No idea maybe I'm the odd one out but I prefer the look of the Prestige..

I don't think the wood ones are as nice as the prestige or hoops in design. I would also suspect they would be prone to the ink bleeding in a few years time.
I think I did hear his Hoops autos are SP. You certainly don't see many of them about compared to the other two.
Once the first numbered rookie auto of his comes out I dare say these will drop in price a little.

I agree! The 'design' of the Prestige is nicer that the Threads Wood auto, but the On Card auto wins every time imo!

I think the Threads Jersey Die Cut auto will be the nicest of them all!

I guess I will find out soon enough!
