After busting my 2 boxes of Knockout, I had thought it was weird that my Frankie Edgar Full Contact Auto didn't look like anything produced from this series or to the sell sheet photos I had seen for that set
Here is the card in question, top left:
Here is the Full Contact autos from this series (about halfway down)
I had forgotten about your thread on the issue, mine isn't numbered either.
The back of mine is pretty damaged as well.
Definitely sending an email now to see what they have to say! I don't purchase new boxes to receive reissued cards, I want the current cards from the set...
Here is the email I sent, hopefully it makes some sort of sense And here's hoping I get some sort of reply.
To whom it may concern,
I purchased 2 boxes of your latest release of Topps UFC Knockout from my local card dealer on 24/03/11. Upon opening the boxes, I had pulled a Frankie Edgar Full Contact on-card auto. The card in question is the top left card in this picture: http://s511.photobucket.com/albums/s359/Glenn3186/?action=view¤t=SDC11672.jpg Once I had pulled this card, I noticed that it did not look like any Full Contact autos I had seen from your pictures on sell sheets and on Ebay. After mulling over it for a week or so, I had a closer look at the back of the card and noticed this card states "This is an authentic 2010 Topps UFC Knockout Full-Contact Autograph card of Frankie Edgar", as shown in this picture: http://s511.photobucket.com/albums/s359/Glenn3186/?action=view¤t=Picture003.jpg This card has been reissued from the previous series, and is quite damaged along the edges of the card. I have also found out these cards were used as replacements for redemptions cards which were not made. I personally have bought boxes of every UFC series that you have produced, and I must say I am not happy with reissued cards being placed in boxes. I buy boxes to obtain the latest cards you have produced, not to get these reissued cards from the previous series you have produced.
I was wondering if you had notified us consumers that reissued cards from the previous series were being placed into this series? I am hoping to hear some correspondence regarding this situation. Regards, Glenn.
Seen a couple get pulled on redtube.... YouTube sorry . That's a crap thing to do to us . What if you don't collect 2010 why would you want it. On a plus it's on card auto and there are probably millions of them so if you loose it you will probably pull another one anyway.
It's not that I don't like the card, I was very happy when I pulled it.
However, as I said in the email, I buy the latest products to get the latest cards.
If they had notified us that reissued cards were being put into packs, I wouldn't have a problem with that either. It's more the fact that as far as I'm aware, us the consumers were not told that this was happening.
I just want an explanation from Topps, thats all. Whether I get one is another story though
After sending the email again, I received a reply from Topps.
No surprises, no answer to the question I posed, just the standard spiel about damaged cards and if I want a replacement, I have to send it back blah blah blah.
No doubt they didn't read the email. Wouldn't surprise me at all that they have some program scan the emails for key words like "damaged" and then send a generic email with their response.
I wonder if there is a different way to get in touch and actually receive an answer....
