Kangaroos coach Dean Laidley quits
WWOS staff11:30 AEST Tue Jun 16 2009
Dean Laidley has stood down from the head coaching role at North Melbourne.
It is believed Laidley informed his players of the decision late this morning after working out a settlement deal with Kangaroos president James Brayshaw.
Laidley, who was off of contract at the end of the season, will speak of the decision at a press conference scheduled for 1pm AEST.
The Kangaroos are currently struggling in 12th position on the AFL ladder in what has been one of the club's worst starts to a season during Laidley's six and half years at the helm. A run of injuries, coupled with poor form has seen the Kangaroos win only four games.
Laidley had previously stated his intention to continue coaching next year, whether with the Kangaroos or elsewhere.
