I just got in this Havlicek topps golden greats pocket replay card.
Very sweet laser cut card with full range of motion. Photos don't do it justice. Hondo has the ball and takes a step and goes in for a lay up all in full motion. Usually these sort of cards have bits of the play missing but this has so much in it!
Comes in its own box and framed nicely in it. Box and card are pretty much NrMt. There are 18 retired legends in the set.
Anyone seen these before??
This thanks to Geo off beckett.
JUST in with the normal mail is
A Rick Barry 71 topps RC in great condition with just about perfect centering! Another RC bites the dust in my greatest 50 collection
Sweet pick-up Chad. That looks kinda like the TriStar idea of things. You know the graded baseball card packs and the like, where you get one per pack and chances of pulling something real nice.
I've never ever seen them before
Thanks Clarkey I'm happy with the direction my collection is taking.
Next up is contest for my mailday. You guys will have to gues what it is before I post it and show how you got the answer. Cheats checking eBay ids' will be disq. The winner will get some gu, auto or latest Beckett mag etc.
More when I get the cards in question. Cheats be warned!
So no one has seen one of these topps things before???
Chad - The Beckett Price Guide I have says (as you did) that there are 18 cards in the set from 1998. The one card packs retailed for US$9.99. The cards feature vintage footage on lenticular card technology utilizing kodamotion technology.
The full set has a BV of $40. The Havlicek $5. (George Gervin $2, Kareem $6 and Bird $15 as a comparison)
There was also a parallel version inserted into packs (1:36) featuring a laser cut version of the base card.
The full set of laser cut parallels has a BV of $100. Singles x2 Base.
I hope this helps...they are a great oddball set!!!
Mavs mentioned early 70's, and I saw a post somewhere about you being after some 60's Topps.
So off to my Beckett for some searching for 60's Topps, and low & behold, there is only 1 set. Had a look for a few Celt's players - Havlicek (who you collect), Thurmond & Bradley.
Saw the name Luke Jackson, and seeing as there was an 04/05 Rookie of the same name (w/Cavs), so that's why it was smokie.
Was also thinking Cousy RC, but I saw it rock up in your birthday package, so didn't include it.
I for one love seeing cards that are older than me! lol.
It's great for collectors who grew up arguing over Shaq and Jordan and other players like the Pippens, Barkleys, Kemps, Admirals, etc, etc, but forget to realise who those players looked up to, growing up around the game.
If a Cousy RC got posted........... well u'll just have to post it dude!! he he he. And "worthless vintage" to who??? Not to u!
