Also two weeks ago, Bill Simmons sat down with Andrew Bogut for his podcast, which I genuinely found to be the best podcast I've listened to all year. Every time I hear Bogey talk, it reminds me of his high basketball IQ. I'd argue he has the highest basketball IQ of anyone in the NBA. Bogey talks alot about Rio too.
From listening to both of them, they both sound like they know Simmons wont suit up.
Reading between the lines, I think Joe basically says Ben will wait till he's drafted, then say that team didn't want to risk him suiting up. He's makes a great point, that playing for Australia meant so much to Dante, that he made sure, before the draft, that he made it clear in every meeting with any potential team, that he wanted to play for Australia, and they had to be ok with that.
To me, I take that as, if Simmons actually cared about playing for his country, he knows how Dante made it happen, and he could do the same in his meetings...
